I give this place 5 star, only because Google have 5 stars. Otherwise I would rate here hundreds of stars. There are no words can describe my feeling after I visit this museum. In those large, national museum, you will see painting, art or some old stones that maybe can proves history. You will be asked to stand away from the collections. But in here, for most of the collections you can even touch them, you can weight them, and imagine how people are using them. In another word, you can feel the history is flowing between your fingers. That is really a feeling you can’t say.The owner collects everything. Old cameras, fancy stone, telephones, old cars, machines, weapons in WW1 and WW2, and I even saw a real canon from a warship. Before I enter this museum, I think this might be a bad idea to spend $5 to visits, as the looking from the outside was really bad...But now I would say, this place, I would spend $50 dollars in. That’s totally worthy.

Tirau Museum only accepts cash so bring the exact amount, just in case. Geoff has lots of interesting stories so ask him anything about his collection for over 60 years! They don't have a cafe but you can bring your own food and drinks because he made a cool picnic area. He upcycled his old sewing machines and put marble slabs on top to make tables.

This is an amazing Museum! Two brothers have been collecting this unique collection for more than 50 years. I advise everyone to come here and dive into the history of New Zealand.

Unfortunately temporarily closed at the moment, adequate contact phone numbers to confirm when you arrive. Looked like it will be an interesting visit when it hopefully reopens again in the future

The owner is very knowledgeable. Wonderful collection. U can spend a few hours away just looking at everything In detail. So much stuff for a small place. Well worth the five dollar entry fee. A must do on any day. Well recommended. AA++

This place is packed full of history. It’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Geoff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. The buildings are old farm sheds, so beware in colder months or wet weather, but it adds to its rustic appeal.
