Amazing professor

Dropped in here for a training session on a Tuesday night and felt very welcome. As a visitor it was great to see the fusion of Māori and BJJ traditions and Anaru was a friendly and knowledgable coach. Facilities are good with plenty of mat space and a shower I was able to use after class. Weekly membership seems a good price too if you are a visitor and staying for longer than I could! Thanks everyone for welcoming me at Tukaha Rotorua.

There’s too much to say so I hope that I am not limited with words.Owner & Professor Anaru Grant Jr. Affiliated under Tukaha HQ, brings an outstanding facility and JiuJitsu to Rotorua.When you walk in you feel welcomed right away, the academy is kept tidy and cleaned with white mats and beautiful history on the walls of Anaru’s journey throughout BJJ.I attended the open mat on Friday evening and although being one of the two females there, I did not feel secluded at all and immediately got into rolling with the members.I was very thankful for the experience and to be blessed with so many others that have the same love for the sport brought into one space.NEW mural on the wall of Helio Gracie & Carlos Gracie has just been redone with also a special logo of Anaru’s ancestry and family line. PLEASE ASK ABOUT HIS LINEAGE AND THE STORY OF HOW BJJ CAME TO BE IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME. There’s a beautiful meaning which he should share with you. It’s a beautiful personal experience.There is ample parking at the facility, the washrooms and toilets segregated between male and female so I felt comfortable changing in my own space compared to some other academy’s.Cleanliness and hygiene is definitely a top priority for Anaru and his team and Tukaha Rotorua and they even have a kitchen! (Big highlight for me) especially bring an athlete and to know if I ever needed to keep food cold for after a training session I know that amenity could also be used.I have passed by Rotorua during our Christmas holidays and didn’t think there was much to do. Having a few tips from the team at Tukaha, we could ourselves going to a few local brekky shops, and also found ourselves at Eat Street later in that evening.Forever grateful and pleased to have visited Tukaha Rotorua, and can’t wait to head back and share knowledge with one another and train with very humbling and accepting community.Thank you for always keeping a positive vibe, smiling, and always having great jokes and banter.OSS!
