So pretty. Great walk. Scenic, peaceful and the bird song is beautiful.Popular walk for all ages. Today I saw grandmothers, a mother, preschoolers, a teen, a granddad jogging and a young man training. All of them were friendly too.

Great little walk near Whakatane/Ohope. Often see native birds. Can be a bit slippery after rain.

Lots of kiwis in this area of bush. Check at Whakatane I-site about opportunities to do night walks to hear and sometimes see them

They suggest you walk on both daylight and night to experience the wildlife.Saw and heard plenty of Tuis. Unfortunately no wetas. Heard and saw Kiwis at night.Good hiking trail though depending on the weather can be wet and slippery in spots.

Ohope Scenic Reserve
Fantastic patch of native bush full of native birds including some usually only seen in sanctuaries- kiwi, robins and other natives like tomtit, kingfisher, tūi, Kereru… Whakataneans are so lucky to have this on their doorstep!
