What a wonderful little spot to park up for the night when trekking to the East Cape Light House. Make sure to bring some $1 coins for the hot showers with great pressure (2x$1 coins per hot shower). Basically just a paddock next to the sea. Not much level grass area, but good enough what's needed. By the way, gets really windy.

Great spot. Super basic amenities , we just used our own water and toilet. Its basically just a paddock, amazing super peaceful spot.Ruggered and wild. $10 per adult $5 per child in July 2020.

We were expecting basic but clean basic would have been good but at least good toilets not DOC longdrops. Road to the site much better than expected only about 2km of the 14km was on rutted dirt. Only 6 vehicles so all parked in the car park area which is fairly level. One great point is the uninterrupted view to the ocean on opening the side door on our van this morning. Priceless.

Remote but wonderful location. Beach was great with very interesting rocks. Lush grass to lie on. Facilities we’re average.

Awesome spot for camping. Right on the river and the beach. Recently refurbished with better toilets and pay per use showers. $15 each was well worth it. Friendly service and half way to the lighthouse. Can get breezy and no cell phone reception or wifi.

If you are looking ridiculous levels of scenery, relaxed surroundings and lots of sun, take the time to drive out to East Cape camp ground. We tented and we had plenty of room with easy access to the shore. Beautiful part of NZ.

Great spot, tho basic facilities for the price. Lots of room though ended up pitching on a slight slope to get the views.(Hot) Showers are 2x$1 coins. The sunrise is lovely though (surprisingly) was from behind the headland, not over the sea (in January at any rate)
