Awesome! Unique, beautiful, and super user-friendly! There are outdoor Zips! Barbecues! And a separate room (between the toilets and showers) with sinks, mirrors, and a hair dryer! The beach is just across the road and you can hear the waves crashing at night. Lady owner is a hoot. Fantastic place -I'll definitely be back.

Kuaotunu never disappoints, whether staying in the Campground or a place near by. We have been coming for the last 3 years and my family loves it. Amazing beaches, yummy takeaways and friendly people.

Went to try go to the campground. Called them and a guy answered and said there was powered spots available for the night. He asked to pay for the nights stay over the phone which we did. We’re in whangamata at the time and drove up to stay the night knowing we had paid for the accommodation for the night. Got greeted with a very rude receptionist lady who said our booking wasn’t there even though we had paid. Had to drive all the way back to whanga to get accommodation and a waste of money. Disgusted on how rude the receptionist was and denied she hadn’t taken any money. Only over a month later the money was refunded back into the bank account. Very poor would not recommend or ever go there or would like anyone to deal with their rudeness and problems.

Good campgroud, has $1 showers a kitchen powered sites, non-powered, cabins boatcleaning station lots of parking playgrounds bbq tables everything you need is here and well kept cleaned twice daily morning and night. Beach is right across the road with good white sand safe swimming and plenty of fishing and diving spots along it as well. We took our push bikes and there's plenty of space to ride. The owners were super friendly and very very helpful I was told there new managers so I never met the old ones however Carol and her hubby are great. One of our pup tents flooded due to the high winds and heavy rain and they gave us a cabin and let us keep our tent site for our last night's stay but it made a world of difference for us. Going back again forsure!

We have stayed at Kuaotunu Campground a number of times with a number of different owners/managers over the years and always loved it but unfortunately after our latest stay with the new owners we probably won’t be back anytime soon.We booked the same site we have always stayed in 12months in advance however due to an “administrative error” we lost that campsite and instead were placed in a much smaller one right by the playground and toilets and had to pay the same price. We took it in our stride and made the most of our holiday and made sure to rebook our usual campsite for the next year. This was all confirmed and no problem at all. Happy days. But Then the day we left we received an email saying we could no longer book our usual site as it had been booked by someone who had stayed on the same site for 12yrs which can’t be possible as we had stayed on that site on multiple occasions including the previous year. The camp owners would not budge. The worst part of our entire stay was New Year’s Eve. While we accept that this is a night of partying and celebration the festivities are normally shut down at 1pm at the camp which is reasonable for a one off night. However at 3am two campsites were still partying up a storm their boom boxes were so loud it shook the ground. At 230am myself and my dad went separately to politely ask them to turn it down (this is usually the camp managers responsibility) we were met with extremely threatening and aggressive behaviour with some of the campers trying to follow me back to my tent (I’m a 30 yr old female) we went to go and contact the camp managers through the after hours system but no answer. We then planned to phone the police as we felt extremely unsafe but there is no phone reception at the campsite. We then looked to pack up the cars and go sleep on the beach by this time is was after 3am and finally it was quiet! - turns out the camp managers eventually did their job and asked them to be quiet. This would not be a safe camp to stay at with children under current management as the aggressive campers own a permanent site/cabin. We talked to management in the morning and decided to leave early with no refund.

Lovely spot. Great long walk recommendations from reception. I can imagine would be a busy campsite in summer!Only recommendation is for some communal oil in the kitchens. Onion’s definitely don’t hit the spot roasted

Everything about the camp is great except the internet service. Not good enough to watch Netflicks or YouTube. Not enough bandwidth I think is the expression. That was my experience even after paying extra for a days worth of internet service. Having the excuse of being in a dip is not good enough in this age of expectation of internet connection. How can a campground continue to operate like that. Needs addressing. As a result one night to sort some things like washing and juicing up my house battery, (lack of sun on solar panel due to the weather) is all I will be doing here.

Amazing location with amazing staff with amazing units. If you haven't been before, would highly recommend. Spent a week here, fishing and diving and it was just awesome.

This campground is not recommended for vans. The spot we were given was squeezed between cabins. It was untidy, with outdoor furniture around, and on top of that we got a flat tyre because of loose nails on the ground. We told the man at reception on check out and he didn't seem to care about it, didn't even offer an apology. Very disappointing for the money we paid.
