Someone tried to enter my room, lucky the chain lock was on so they could not get further. The blanket was wet and there is no heating in the room. The curtain in the bathroom one can see through at night, with a staircase just on the outside of the bathroom. The worst hotel experience of my life.

Honestly, I was expecting to be very disappointed as I had read many bad reviews and we were staying for 2 nights, but, when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised! The staff were really nice, we had the Rangitoto room which had lovely high ceilings, was mostly clean, tidy and a lot larger than we thought it'd be! There was a double bed, single bed, small separate sitting room, free wifi (if your room is upstairs, there is a separate 'upstairs' wifi connection), electric blanket, complimentary soap, shampoo, body wash, towels, linen, tea, coffee, ironing board, iron, cotton buds/ pads, hairdryer and heater. Parking was easy as the parks are right at the front door. When we booked, it was the cheapest place we could find so we were stoked with what we got.The new curtains were nice but the blinds in the sitting room definitely need to be fixed (there was a small label to say not to pull them up as they were broken). When we pulled one of the curtains back, there was a large spider and web in the top corner (and I hate spiders) but luckily it wasn't very close to us or the bed. The bathroom was mostly clean and a bit small compared to the size of the room but I know there's not a lot they can do to change that. They need to replace the showerhead and need to clean around every edge and corner of the shower as there was a fair bit of black mould on the silicone. We got back late on a Sunday night around 1-2am and the hotel door was unlocked. It would be great if it had been locked, or if you could open it with a swipe tag for some extra security as there isn't always someone at the desk.Overall, we were happy with our stay here and would book again. I think it would be a great benefit to them if they updated the website with current photos as it's completely different! :)

Not a single staff member seen for two days. We needed toilet paper, as only half a roll was in our bathroom- we'd booked for 6 days. I tried ringing the number left at reception as it was left unattended. I rang 9 times, no answer. We seemed to be the only guests there. It was strange. The cafe is not operating? There are stripped mattresses on tables and full laundry bags all over the downstairs area. I absolutely do not recommend this placeThe safety issue of the front door being unlocked every evening is alarming. The safety issue of not having a manned hotel is shocking. The room was old, which was great and I was after a place with some charm. But stains on the walls and a dirty bathroom isn't worth the price per night. The TV has 3 channels which was fine till it kept going off. No staff to ask for assistance. I'd love to know what happened...very strange.

Got upgraded to a bigger room which was great, had a kitchen which was a nice extra. Not the cleanest hotel and the chair was broken but overall good.

We stayed in the Orient room and found it cozy with a comfy bed and lovely view. It seemed as though we were the only people in the hotel the first two nights of our stay and it was great.Unfortunately there were two obnoxious parties flanking our room that checked in on our last night. Odd considering it was a Sunday in Remuera…? Being an older building the sound proofing is non existent so the other guests were quite disruptive.Though its age is part of its charm, it admittedly could use a bit more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning (dusting etc). The staff is lovely and the free off street parking is great.Unfortunately, it seems your stay is highly dependent on how respectful the other guests are. Not sure I would stay again solely based on that fact which is a shame because it’s a very nice place that I’d recommend otherwise.

Stayed a total of 7 nights in two different rooms: in Dec2022 then 2nights in Jan2023. Both experiences were not great. The rooms were not well equipped for comfort stay, there was no dining table and chairs to sit for meals or to do some work, no cutlery except 2 coffee cups & tea spoons. Very small fridge, campervan size! It was worse in the room named Taj- it's huge but the room ammenities are not great, you get charged for using the other spare beds. The bed headboard made squeaking noise! The bedroom window is a health hazzard as it has no safety latch to secure them! No privacy in this Taj room, it's facing the carpark when others can see through the windows. Lightings are dull, the room is so old and dated! We couldn't wait to get out there after one night stay, but rooms were pre-booked, so just had to endure throughout the stay.. Won't consider to go back there.

Stayed a night, let me check out an hour late at no extra charge and held my bags for a couple hours after checkout whilst exploring and waiting for friends with no charge. Showers could be tiny bit cleaner is the only gripe. Everything else was perfect, especially for price.

Had 3 nights booked, 16 Feb to 19 Feb 2023. Have just returned to my room which was upstairs andeverything in my room had been taken!!!!! The lady owner who was about, a guy doing the lawns and residents downstairs were about also and yet no one saw anyone take my property!!!!! There is NO WAY someone would not have seen a concrete cutter, nail gun, laptop Xbox among other things being carried downstairs!!!! The lady owner was very unhelpful and the rooms security lacks, a credit card can be swiped and doors open. My room didn't even have a TV. I WOULD DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL AND THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF OVERSEAS PEOPLE RUNNING AND OWNING BUSINESSES IN OUR COUNTRY, THEY HAVE NO ETHICS AND ARE ONLY AFTER THE MONEY AND HAVE NO MORALS AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LACKS TEN FOLD. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED IN THIS FAKE BOUTIQUE MOTEL, YOUR A JOKE DEVEREAUX!!!!

Booked and prepaid 4 nights over last Easter through travel agent. Unsafe, unclean with breakfast (small bowl of cereal, pottle of yoghurt, loaf of bread, and a manky apple or aged banana) crammed together with a toaster, plates and cutlery on a small tray during the previous afternoons. No table to eat on available in our room and breakfast room seemed to be closed. Dirty bathroom with noisy extractor fan. Potentially unsafe multi point mains adaptor tucked under bed. Outside no handrail alongside steps to reception. Run down potholed driveway and awkward parking area. Lack of any available staff in reception most of the time. Advertised photographs did not reflect our experience. Definitely do not recommend this hotel that requires redecoration/renovation and a professional appraisal from the Hotel Inspector!!!

Stayed for two nights. The room was a good size, had its own bathroom, was mostly clean although there was dust in a couple of places, like the castors on the TV stand, and the filigree decoration on the toilet roll holder. The bed sagged in the middle but was fairly comfortable. The cold tap made a kind of squealing sound unless turned on full. Otherwise fine. The room was called South Pacific and had decor with an ocean theme.
