Stayed her for 4 nights spread over a week, I had planned a spontaneous trip to NZ and was just looking for something convenient and cheap. The novelty of staying in a pod sounded cool at the time also, however after my first night I can see why these hostels should only be for one night maximum two.The pod itself is getting old, the privacy screen is a curtain which does almost nothing for sound insulation or actual privacy. The USB port doesn’t work, ventilation inside the pod was dirty and so loud it would annoy others in the room if I had it on. Others have noted there is nowhere to store your luggage which I expected, lockers are available for hire however they’re a bit pricey even for a hostel.I didn’t have an issue with the showers or bathrooms, if you expect it to be what it is you won’t be disappointed however don’t expect much more. It’s very close to Countdown for groceries, some nearby restaurants that provide variety, right next to the airport (which can also be a con, airplanes taking off throughout the night aren’t fun to wake up to) and the bus into the city centre only takes 20 minutes or so.The social lobby area is kept OK, most travellers aren’t too social during my stay so I didn’t get to experience much of that. The kitchen and equipment is minimal, hot water tap doesn’t work so everyone relies on a single electric kettle. Most people do their dishes, some don’t and there isn’t much enforcement to that either.Stay for a night and move on, solo travellers like myself will find it ok for maximum a couple of nights.Glad it was available for my short stay though, will I come back? Maybe for one night before I catch my flight, longer? Most likely noThey also have no control over people’s personal hygiene as well, so the first night I stayed in a room with pretty bad B.O. what can ya do though

I recently chose to stay here as my international flight was arriving approx. 1am, and I only had to sleep for the night before meeting up with a tour group the next day. I'd never stayed in a Pod, so I thought I'd try it for once. It must be said that these are likely only suited to you if you're backpacking on a budget. It was not for me and I probably won't do it again.Things I was disappointed and put off by;1. It's strange that even though specific pods are allocated to people at booking, you allow and encourage anyone to sleep in whichever one they want once they go to the room.2. Many of your lockers under the pods simply don't work and leaves belongings unsecured. I tried at least 3, after reading instructions carefully and all failed to lock.3. There is no individual control of temperature. It was stinking hot in my pod and I couldn't do anything about it.4. I had to enter my room/pod in the dark as the room was filled with people sleeping at 1am. There is zero instructions on how to turn the light on for your own pod anywhere. But most disappointing here, was that I messaged the 24 hour chat to ask how to control this, and they did not respond for around 8 HOURS! Apparently according to the reply, the unmarked black gloss surface is a touch panel - you'd need to be a magician to work that out as it has no labelling on it at all.I can accept value given for budget accomodation. I can't accept lack of timely customer service.

Have stayed in the pods twice now: the first night was good but the second night was constantly interrupted by people moving in and out of the shared room. It can’t be avoided but if you want a guaranteed good nights sleep then consider a private room. Common areas are excellent and clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

It's an awesome place to go when you are coming from the airport or need to go there. The sleeping pods are spacious and comfortable, the rooms are just a little small in general. The common are is the biggest I've ever seen and enough space in the kitchen.

Great price for what you get! Nice, comfortable capsules with socket power and USB charging ports, hot shower, well equipped kitchen, and a large communal area with tables (regular and snooker), lounging chairs, hammocks, and bean bags.

First time staying at the JUCY Christchurch a young vibe here . My flight arrived early Morning an easy short walk for a 62 year old from the airport in the early hours of the morning meet by a very helpful staff member it was no fuss getting my roomValue for money 5 stars the room and bedding was clean could of done with a few extra pillows I’m sure if I asked it wouldn’t of been a problem bathroom. The shower was nice and hot which is what every traveler wants .The smart TV also had U tube . Looked at staying at one of the others and at $400 a night it’s simply not worth it.JUCY is really set up for people that travel and who would rather spend there money on activities, than buying a hotel room well done guys for keeping it realistic for people who travel within and From Overseas .

Really nice hostel close to the airport in Christchurch. I walked the short distance to the airport in 10 minutes. The hostel is clean, has enough showers/toilets & has a huge kitchen & chill area (with hammocks, Billard etc.)The supermarket just 5 minutes around the corner makes it super easy to get everything for a great dinner.1 Star less as I am missing free Tea/coffee like in most other hostels.

It is ok. Location is good i.e. accessible via Metrobus. There's a supermarket Countdown and eateries nearby. The airport is about a 15 minute away. Useful for early flights. The common area is handy since one can boil water for a hot drink (get one's own supplies i.e. milk, tea/ coffee, sugar etc). WiFi is good. To be fair, the accomodation is basic. Probably better for solo travellers who just want a place to sleepover

Right next to the airport.Helpful and friendly staff.Bit too expensive for what you get.Really nice lounge area.Clean toilets and showers.Rooms disappointed me. Looked more special on the pictures. USB charger was bright and shining in my face at night. When you have the Power on there is also a light above your pod so its not dark at night. There is a curtain in front of your pod but light is shining in on the sides. Room smelled a bit but thats often the case is hostels. You can also hear everything, thought the pods are more private, bit its basically a standard hostel room with just a tiny bit more private beds.Good for a short stay right next to the airport

The best thing about this place is that the kitchen and common area stays open all night. For night owls or those arriving late, that's really important. Also good that it is just off the bus route to the airport and close to both the airport and a small strip mall.Maybe I was lucky, but everything worked in my pod, my room mates were quiet and everywhere was clean. Some toilets and showers were out of order, but there were still plenty to go round.
