The Sebel Auckland Manukau

As a frequent traveller, I used to stay at this hotel prior to Covid , the service and facility are dropping hugely. Room air conditioning (central control) take more than 5 hours to cool the room down to 20 degrees on a cloudy day. Staff told me that is normal. I am not a big person who feel hot all the time but their room temperature is impossible to sleep . Have to wait until 1am to fall asleep, then 6am the traffic from state highway will wake you up ( windows are closed). Limited car park , have to park on street lawn for two nights .Overall, not an ideal place to stay anymore!Bye

My room was not made even when I asked for it in the mornings, had the request hanging outside the door. Or the bins were not emptied or no milk sachets etc etc.. I had to phone and ask every afternoon for this. I am very, very tidy but just wanted to have my bed made when I returned in the afternoons!!! The breakfasts were amazing including dinner, but dinner prices were high and not much choice. Deserts were from $17.00 upwards but also very nice.

Easily the best place to stay in South Auckland. Modern, clean, comfortable. The service is always friendly and prompt. The restaurant is surprisingly good.

My husband & I stayed here for 10 nights (Feb-March 2023). Our room on the top floor was lovely, with lots of space, kitchenette and nice view. Train station and some good restaurants were nearby. Staff was polite & friendly. However, housekeeping was not the best. One day we had no milk or teabags in our room (remedied after we complained). Another day the room was made but bathroom was not cleaned. Yet another day our room was not serviced at all. The manager called to apologize and offered us two free drinks as compensation (cheap wine, beer or soft drink only). Most four-star hotels would have given a 10-night customer one free night for the major inconvenience. At the very least Sebel could have offered us two free breakfasts. Two cheap drinks for poor housekeeping issues over three separate days was rather disappointing for an otherwise good hotel.

What a wonderful hotel. It’s not quite as flashy as the Novotel at the airport, but it’s not far off and frankly I prefer the rooms at the Sebel.Once in a while I come across a hotel room where they’ve clearly spent a lot of time considering every single aspect of their customers stay and subsequently invested a lot of time designing a room with their customers comfort as the main priority. I’m so pleased to say that this is one of those hotels. They have literally considered every aspect of your stay. You will not be disappointed.From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a lady who welcomed me to the hotel. Check in was quick and easy. The room was generous in size, quiet, and immaculately clean with great lighting. The king bed and pillows were very comfortable, as was the bedding. The shower and bathroom was outstanding, particularly the water pressure and temperature in the shower. Right down to the individual placement of items in the bathroom and the gel/shampoo/conditioner hand-pumps located on the wall inside the shower. (So much better than those annoying little bottles). They have thought of everything such as genuine block-out curtains, comfortable furniture, windows that open a little to let fresh air in and a great selection of TV channels. A comfortable headboard when you’re sitting up watching TV and everything you need at arms reach including phone charging points.It was cold and wet so decided to eat in my room. I’m always a little wary of room service but the menu selection looked good and I thought I’d give it a go. I was so happy with my selection of a main, small dessert, plus a cheeseboard. Delivery was really quick and came with a smile. The food was fresh and tasty with good portions.I slept like a baby. No noise interruptions from other guests in the hallway, probably thanks to the way the room entrance has been designed where you step into a mini hallway or space which you share with your neighbor.2 very small recommendations:1). A pen in the room.2). Verbally inform your customers of the $10 car park charge. I’m sure it’s written on the paperwork that I signed at check in, and this is totally on me for missing it, but would be great to give customers a verbal heads up. I was very happy to pay it after such an incredible stay.Check out the next morning was painless and I was on my way within a minute or so. I love an 11am check out.I highly recommend this hotel and I will absolutely be back when in Auckland next. Thank you for a great stay and for making me feel so comfortable.

I booked for lunch last Saturday and myself with 5 family members were impressed with the layout and the menu. Great food and the atmosphere was great. Spent quite a alot of money but the food and drinks were worth it.Would be coming back for the food and maybe to spend a night at your beautiful haven.

Due to their lack of communication and internal processes there was an error in my booking - they couldn't link two bookings together and the night crew did not tell morning crew and they packed up all my things thinking that I had forgotten to check out. They lied about 'not touching my things', yet all my items were packed up in GARBAGE BAGS. Also don't understand why they would pack up my undergarments and other personal items only to still leave everything IN THE ROOM. They emailed me AFTER they had packed up my items, but no prior communications.It was a business booking, our company has stayed there very frequently over the last 5+ years. The staff have no clue what they are doing, it took almost 20min to check in and 3 people to figure out how to do it.There is also additional charges on my credit card that they still have not reversed- so now I will need to file fraud charges with the bank. It’s an absolute mess of a hotel…

The staff are amazing and polite. Our bed is comfortable. Some kitchen utensils are present and just right for our stay. Its location is easily navigated and close to where we intended to go. Good place for a child, too, as my little one had a blast!
