Went out for a meal, was fantastic. Great atmosphere tasty food. Amazing presentation and something new. A twist on apple tart. Covered in white chocolate with creamy centre and apple purée inside sitting on tart. Almost to pretty to eat but oh soooooo good

My wife and I were absolutely blown away by Poppies. She had her best meal of the entire 2 week trip here with their lamb dish. We were not expecting much from Twizel and we were pleasantly quite surprised by how delicious this experience was. My fish and chips was in the top 3 I've ever had in my life. We wish that we had been able to come back here for another meal but all I can say is you will not be disappointed if you go here.

Thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch at Poppies in Twizel! The service & staff were delightful. Food was beautifully presented & very tasty. Perfect summer lunch!

Second night here really lively and busy which shows how popular it is both nights the food was excellent. Nice choice of beer and wine. As food is cooked from fresh don’t expect food being quick but that is how it should be. One big moan is wifi you get a voucher and it lasted 7 minutes before it was used up and then I presume you pay if you want to.

Great dining option in Twizel after lots of high country exploration. I enjoyed my very fresh locally farmed salmon (though doing it over would ask for the sauce on the side if trying to be healthy). Husbands lamb curry was even better. Friendly services makes you feel at home.

Good coffee, nice design but tiny portions. I ordered a venison burger with beetroot chutney. (Tiny) Most tasteless and driest burger I ever had. No beetroot chutney. Big disappointment.

The Poppie burger is something I wouldn't recommend. The meat was so tough I couldn't chew it. The burger was so wet with sauce and coleslaw dressing it was difficult to eat. The chips that came with the burger were delicious and hot. They do have great chips. Mine was not an isolated incident. I had 2 friends who had the same. Both had trouble chewing the meat but they both enjoyed the chips.

The venison was delicious, but the service was disappointing. They had some big parties, so we were ignored the entire time we were there. The food took almost an hour from the time we ordered, so we finished our drinks before it arrived. We were not asked if we wanted another drink and not asked about dessert once we finished our meals. Literally nobody spoke to us between when we ordered and paid. Also, the venison was served without steak knives so it was a little challenging to cut. For the price of the restaurant, I would hope for better service. 3 stars only because the food really was delicious.
