Our very first meal in New Zealand! And it was definitely a good idea to go there. I ordered West Coast BBQ ribs and it was sooooo soooo delicious!! A great place with nice ambient and good beer too. Service is really friendly. Recommend!

Seafood chowder so good on a chilly day. Every scoop of soup brings a spoonful of seafood chunks thoughtfully chopped up into manageable chewable bits.

I've esten here niw, since my first review so just popping back to compliment the food also.Really nice, friendly staff! Every time. Muffins looked fantastic and lots of easy parking.Thanks again for a great time.

We're semi-regulars here, the food is consistently good, prices OK and service is good. I'd like it more if there was more of a delay between courses - barely finished one when the next arrives. Can also get a bit noisy and a little draughty at times.

The place to go if you want a great roast meal... And there is Marley the cat who will visit you if you are kind to him. Marley is about 18 years old and is a legend in the Avonhead area. The food, atmosphere and staff are top notch. The roast pork is scrumptious.

Pub lunches are usually a good feed for reasonable money. Not gourmet, but sound.Fish & chips here are what you would expect. No complaints.HOWEVERThe “ steak sandwich” they serve is actually a Philly cheese steak in a hotdog bun. Look it up, only the Americans can call this food.It was the most disgusting looking greasy thing I have ever seen - ruins it for both the steak as well as the cheese.I took one look and left it untouched. Cost me $27 to learn to ask first.Be careful when you order.

Great food. Sunday roast for $15 was tasty and great size. Drinks weren't served to each person and expected to pass down table. Wasn't busy and could move down side of table so seemed lazy. Had to ask for order to be taken as waited so long. First time service not so good. Would have been 5/5 if service was better. Clean toilets. Bar and know there are quiz nights and wine tastings.

Took my grandson for dinner, he had steak sandwich, followed by yummycaramel sundae and I had lambs fry and bacon. Both delicious, staff were great.....efficent, very helpful and friendly. They also went out of their way to generously to provide an extra for me. Recommend Merrin Street Brewery.
