Patea Dam

Lovely place to camp with toilets and hot showers and rubbish skip. Also lovely short walk in the bush.

Very isolated and beautiful unspoiled camping spot. Hot showers and toilet facilities. Beautiful dam and great boating and swimming. Gravel road in good order.

Lovely camping spot elevated from the dam, $10 per night per site, pay cash to the custodian that visits once a day. Free hot gas shower and flushing toilets. Sites are not marked and first in first served, the section is quite sloped at places, so can imagine if its peak season it might be hard to get a flat area to pitch the tent. can light camp fires in the drums provided. rubbish skips down by the dam. dog friendly. short 2 minute walk down from the toilet block to the dam. very windy narrow gravel road to get to camp from Patea, nice 30-40 minute bush walk from the dam up and around the hill overlooking the dam.

A long winding road to come out at a beautiful hidden gem where you can relax and chill. The campground has toilets and hot showers and at the time of this review was $10 per site.

Very interesting boat trip up the river to the dam. Have now completed the trip both ways so a great tick off my list.

The trip there was was amazing, on the way there, there are breathtaking scenery and amazing views. It was worth it just for views and along the road there and back.The destination however is not that much different then any other capping site.

The Road there was an awful dusty pothole. And lake/river was dirty with no room for jet skiing let alone a boat. Not worth the trip Suggest lake taupo. Cheers.

Best place for a drive

Very outa the way for a day trip but good stop non the less. Take ya fishing rod n prepare for weed snags and small Redfin Perch but fun the less
