Shads Buffet & Function Centre
Quite pricey $72 for 1 adults and my 14 yr son.Food is prepared and displayed nicely. Fresh seafood is delicious oysters and muscles in the shell.

I am from Wellington and my son and I treated my brother and his 5 kids to dinner at Shads.Prior to booking in, I looked up at the reviews and found some to be quite negative but we wanted to try it out anyway.I can say that we absolutely enjoyed it and it is an awesome family restaurant.The staff are friendly, helpful and polite.There was plenty of space, a variety of food and dessert selection and the kids gave it 2 thumbs up.Looking forward to going again when we are back in Hawera.I would suggest for those who gave negative reviews to go back, maybe they would have a more pleasant experience.If Shads were in Wellington, it would definitely be my go to restaurant.Support your local businesses.Thank you Team Shads!

Good variety of foods with clearly labeled allergy alerts (gluten-free, dairy free). Good variety of deserts, too.There were booths, big long tables for big parties and smaller tables.The waitresses were very attentive, and plates were cleared almost immediately.Price was reasonable and felt accurate at $42.50 for adults and around $16 for our eight year old.There is a bar at extra costs.There were clean toilets.Overall, a recommended outing.Family friendly.

The service was very good. The atmosphere was great . But the meal I had was terrible. I had a chicken Diane with vegetables The chicken was way to tuff and chewy and there wasn't alot of sauce to taste. And had 2 very small carrots and a few green beans .the potatoe bake was ok .but for $39. 50 it was all way to over priced. And they had also run out of quite a bit of food and drinks.

been twice now, both time food was amazing- for La cart, inside is very nice and warm, great for kids as well.only let down was the wait between drinks. would of spent way more on drinks if had come around faster. other then that food was really good and you get what you pay for. will be back again- would just order 2 drinks at a time lolSpend is high for us but that's because we try everything and drink alot.easy be a good night out for $30-50PP

A great lunch. Value for money with three hot carved meat options; Beef, Ham, and Pork. Lots of salad and cold seafood. Modern decor with clean amenities.

Only had the option of the buffet when we went in. It was quite basic for 42.50 an adult! Seafood selection quite disappointing, had an option of tiny frozen shrimp or those cooked mussels in a jar you can get from the supermarket. Dessert selection was even more basic. Mainly just bought in slices that have been cut into small portions. And some packet mouse. Crumble wasn’t very good. Surely the chef could make a couple trays of chocolate pudding or the like. Overall the experience left a lot to be desired, wouldn’t come back. The Burnt Place is a much nicer option considering their prices are on pa with Shad’s al a carte menu.

Food left a lot to be desired. I have never seen scrimps so small.Didnt expect to see a sausage dish.Poor vege selection.Needs a few changes.Bar staff was great.

Had menu dining. Beautiful meals. Quite expensive, but worth waiting for. Chef is fantastic. Lovely new place. Great Cafe during day, decaf coffee too!! Choices of cabinet food are priced really well. Lovely u can go after work for coffee and cake tue-sunday.
