Torlesse Wines
We did some research to which winery we should go to taste a glass of wine. We decided to stop at Torlesse as we like small businesses and the personal contact with the owners. We had a great experience sitting in the garden drinking a good glass of wine and looking at the vineyard. We also ordered a small plate of cheese and got the best cheese we ate in 6 weeks traveling through NZ and that is coming from an italian cheese lover. We highly recommend this place.

Incredibly friendly winery & perfect for every occasion. They are so accommodating & we cannot speak highly enough of this place. The wine is tasty & reasonably priced & the tastings offer all the information you need about each wine

Unfortunately our timing was not the greatest, they were expecting a ship of American Tourists to arrive so we were asked to sit outside semi removed from the venue. This also held up the service for our tastings. So my advice... Is to call ahead to see if there is a large group due.Besides that, the staff were awesome, the sharing platter for 2 was beautiful and the wine was divine.Really recommend the Red Port... It's not what you will be expecting.Also - Dogs are welcome!

Wine tasting was only $10pp and we got to try around 8 different wines (including 2 ports and a liqueur). Margaret was super friendly and informative.Also a good place to rent bicycles and start the waipara wine valley trail. Just make sure to check your bike tyres for air when you leave! Mine were flat but I was able to swap for another bike ☺️ (they have about 10 of them, with helmets).

Lovely wine tasting, delivered with an extra personal touch as it came from one of the owners. I especially liked the Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, with a special mention for the Tawny. Do not miss this hidden gem on the way to Kaikoura from Christchurch!

What a gem of a place! The best wine tasting and some of the best wines i have tasted. The owners make you most welcome, even when under pressure they always have a smile. Forget about the big names, this is the place to go. We'll definitely return.
