The Crossing Lodge and backpackers

The main reason I booked this place was for the spa pool; it wasn't working & by the looks of it, it hadn't been working for a quite a while. Central heating wasn't working either, there was no firewood for the fire in the games room. The kitchen had a wood burner for heat, but the wood was in short supply & wet so it didn't burn that well.The room we had was clean & dry with a little fan heater so we had some heating, & the bed was comfortable.

Excellent property and very convenient place. Staffs are extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean and has a fantastic old time charm. Brian is great and helpful. A place I can recommend.

Incredible lodge ! Close of the Tongariro Alpine Circuit. The host is really kind and funny. Definitely a place to be !

Avoid this place! I am absolutely disgusted staying here! The central heating isn’t working and we didn’t have a heater in our room. Lucky we bought our own extra blankets otherwise my two small children, myself and husband would of been freezing. There is no staff available as I have been to reception several times and called to request a heater with no answer. I have also spoken to 3 different families who have all said they have emailed several times with no answers. I used to love coming here as a child but it is so run down and filthy and seems as though the owners don’t care about anyone staying. We almost left a day early as it has been a terrible experience. For warmth there are fire places in the common areas which you can light, however there is no wood or any instructions on where to find the wood. I would definitely not recommend staying here to anyone.

Beautiful view and relaxing this place is big part of my amazing vacation in New Zealand very welcoming and friendly highly recommended

Really disappointing. Spa pool and pool table were not working and clearly hadn't for months. There was no kindling or lighters for the fire, only large damp logs and piles of ash, and the central heating was broken. Communication was appalling. No reply to repeated phone calls and emails, both before and during our stay. I booked for a room with adjoining bathroom and did not receive one- total rip off. Our room had holes in the walls. I never post reviews but we feel we need to warn people about this one!!

Great value for money, no complaints. Service was good, spa and rooms were acceptable. Thanks guys

Its a great place, its quiet, not your regular and not in a city or town, but the view and countryside is amazing. Its not 5 star, don't come expecting that, but certainly comfortable and with all you would normally need
