Pororari Hut

Excellent modern DOC hut. Part of Paparoa Great Walk and must be booked in advance. Beautiful views. Equipped with gas and matresses in summer season.

This hut along the Paparoa track was great. Beautiful views, well maintained and good facilities. Having stayed in other DOC huts, we had come prepared with lanterns and candles to use after dark but thus newer hut had lights operated on a timer and sensors throughout the night, 4 double gas cookers, and even cell phone charging plugs. Two decks to sit out and watch the sunset and then the starry night: amazing due to lack of light pollution! Definitely recommend!

Beautiful hut, the location is very scenic. The main problem is the availability, too few hut beds and no camp ground. It could be a good idea to arrange some areas for camping on the whole track.

Amazing hut. We were lucky enough to get there after a storm and had a beautiful blue sky with full visibility of the spectacular 360 views
