This was an amazing hike. We did the hike early September and had only about 2 hours before it was getting dark. One way if you are hiking fast it will take about 1 hour. There was a lot of mud on the trail but was certainly worth the hike once we got to the huge falls. Hike about 100 meters past the lookout and you will make it to an even better lookout with 270+ degree views.

100% recommended!! Well worth the hike! It takes roughly 30 minutes to hike into the first look out point. Pretty easy hike with smooth terrain to that point. Then from there to the look out over the falls is 1 hour of a maintained path way through heavy brush with some steep steps and climbs. Very very worth it!! And it's a great way to spend an afternoon!

Hiked here from YHA hostel National Park on a cloudy day. After about 45-60min got to the proper forest trail, continued on all the way to the falls lookout point, crossing 2 notable small streams both of which become the falls I believe. To my surprise very few mosquitos, unless there's normally not many around. They had a voluntary bucket carrying set up to help transport gravel to the end of the trail to assist with maintenance and development, carrying the buckets 200m along 9 checkpoints, but you can drop them off at the next checkpoint if tired. It was cool to see this and get to contribute, made me particularly aware of the trail infrastructure needed to make the hike safe and relatively easy.

Long trek but very beautiful! You feel like you are helping to build the track because you are asked to carry buckets of gravel to the end to carry on building it!

Gorgeous walk through the forest canopy. Unfortunately was running out of sunlight to get all the way to the falls so had to turn around at the stream crossing. So great to see a community group working with DOC to stabilise the track, so bring your muscles and help out if you can!!

A really peaceful place - enjoyed a gentle hike immersed in nature. On the way to the falls there's a lookout- a clear day you can see Mt Taranaki. This less-walked trail is well worth exploring - the track was well marked & in reasonable condition.

The track to the fall is through the forest with native plants, you can stay close to the nature. However, the water fall is quite far away from the 2nd lookout, it is on the other side of the valley. The track is currently not maintained beyond the 2nd lookout. The track is maintained by local volunteers and travelers, if you visit there, you are appreciated if you can help carry the white buckets (with sands) along the track for a few hundred meters, they are used to build and maintain the track.

Great short walk through beautiful bush. The waterfall lookout is stunning; a good view of the waterfall and panorama of the surrounding bush.
