Buying a new VW in NZ has a gotcha that isn’t nice. The showroom to street devaluation dip is massively higher than most other brands.. Why is this you ask? The simple explanation is this. Giltrap NZ are incentivised by VW on sales quotas. If they buy 100 VW over the financial year, they may average $3000 GP per unit. If they sell 300 units, then VW ups that figure to $4500 per unit. So Giltrap wholesale cars to Miles VW, Tristram VW etc according to the sales demand from buyers. In addition to these wholesale sales, Giltrap pumps out as many additional units as possible through another route To market. This is how they get enough wholesale numbers to get the higher GP from their total VW buy. These are the cars with 800km 1200 km on the odometer for prices way cheaper. They are cheap as they are sold for what they get them for. They get their reward from VW in Germany. On the grey market cars AND your car. So, when you sell your car in 12 months or whenever with around 7500km on the odometer. Take a look at what similar km vThe money you should get for your car is blocked by the Giltrap brown market cars which are younger cars and have 1/8 of the km of your car. E.g pay $40k expect $33K after 6 months. Market price is diluted down to $28k. That’s right. The brown market cars are competing strongly. Giltrap has stacked the deck. Buyer beware.

Good selection of cars. Possibly a little more grooming and presentation on a few of the vehicles would boost this rating. Young sales guys helpful but I thought that considering the pricing of a few vehicles stone chips could have been addressed but that may be something they would negotiate later.

The starter motor in our motorhome died, on a Saturday, in the middle of a car wash, two weeks before we were to set off on our 3 week Christmas holiday. After the lovely AA man got it started again, Miles Continental allowed me to drive it straight to them, parked it for us over the weekend and then managed to squeeze in the repair amongst their busy pre Christmas schedule. What an experience! Andrew, Alex and the team did a terrific job and we are delighted. Through the support of Miles Continental and VW NZ, Habitat for Humanity Nelson has been able to purchase a fabulous new Tiguan Allspace which will play an invaluable role as we work towards helping people into decent homes across the Nelson Tasman region. The vehicle is beautifully finished, has great space and towing power - all of which will be put to very good use in the coming years.I collected the car from Andrew last Friday after a long wait during which Miles assisted us with a loan car. The Allspace was beautifully presented and it was very nice to receive additional goodies as well. All in all, you've all gone way above and beyond to assist us and we're very grateful.Thank you so much Andrew and the team - a huge 'shout out' from us and we look forward to a great association with Miles and VW.

While on a trip in the South Island I sought assistance from Miles Continental VW to replace a chipped windscreen. I wish to commend both James in ChCh and Laetitia in Timaru for their help in ensuring that a replacement windscreen could be fitted as a matter of some urgency. This was done in just over one day in Timaru. Seamless top service. Thank you to both!

Buying a new car was easy. Friendly staff that were not too clingy or pushy. Gave us a run down on car... Gave us a voucher for Cafe for our test drive. Car was great... Came back and we talked price... They knocked a little off total price and we bought there and then... Drive away.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to James for his excellent service getting a Helix Subwoofer delivered to me across the pond to Australia. Super quick with emails as well as sharing personal insight and experience with the product. It was a seamless transaction and experience. If for some reason I'm in NZ and need to buy a GTI I know where I'm going haha.
