Terrible experience, I went there for a simple tooth extraction and was given no antibiotics. The next day I was in agony so revisited, three days later I was close to being admitted to hospital as an infection had taken hold. It took four more visits to another dentist to get the infection under control. Three moths later I have to get the tooth beside the one originally removed taken out as the infection killed it. I also have nerve damage in my chin and lower lip resulting in loss of feeling. I found Dr Anthony Neville Lamb arrogant and failed to explain in any way the damage they had caused.

This dentist isn’t aware of the importance of informed consent, which is particularly concerning given he works with children. Dr Neville-Lamb refused to let my son know that he planned to extract a tooth, even though I a) asked him to explain the plan and seek consent from my son, and b) I offered to talk my son through the plan myself if he wasn’t comfortable having this conversation with him. He was arrogant and dismissive and implied that “mums” get all worked up and that makes the kids worked up. I wasn’t at all worked up, but was clear that he wasn’t going to inflict a surprise extraction on my son.The Dental Council of New Zealand set standards of clinical competence, cultural competence and ethical conduct to be observed by all registered oral health practitioners in New Zealand with a key component to the standards being informed consent. Not gaining informed consent from the minor and/or caregiver is a breach of the Dental Council of New Zealand standards of clinical competence.I feel his behavior breached the HDC Code of Rights (particularly rights 1, 5, 6 & 7) that were established to protect patients. I do not trust this practitioner and would advise other parents to steer clear - although I’m aware we don’t have a lot of choice in New Plymouth currently.

I have used New Plymouth Dental Centre in the past and always had good service. However, today I had to have an emergency extraction. The staff at New Plymouth Dental Centre were exceptional in all regards. They are friendly and efficient and most of all - non judgmental which is a huge factor for me as I had been quite embarrassed for neglecting my teeth for 8 years.I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone.

I would not recommend taking children to Antony Neville Lamb at all! My daughter had already had a traumatic dental experience, and we were referred to NP Dental to get sedation for a tooth extraction. She is now traumatized beyond repair. Not only did he not give sedation he also didnt give gas until too late. He was gruff in manner with her and very physically rough with her. It was not a nice experience for a mother to watch her child go through! The rest of the staff are extremely friendly and nice. Pity about the dentist.

HORRIBLE !! Do not go here !!!! absolutely rude receptionist who said “oh fine whatever” then hung up on me after I had to cancel one time.Got a filling done, and they decided to extract a tooth without telling me prior to the appointment!! I repeatedly said no while crying (I have severe nerve damage, I wasn’t prepared for this procedure). They held me down and took it out, I have bruises on my arms from this ! I am so angry. They kept telling me I was “naughty” for crying because apparently it wasn’t hurting “it was just the noise”.NEVER GO HERE !!Horrible staff and reception. I wouldn’t want this on my worse enemy !

Dr Wu and her assistant were wonderful. They were both very lovely, caring and helpful, would recommend them to anyone. The receptionist on the other hand was not, she needs to work on her customer service skills, because she is bias and judgemental between customers and it shows. Don't think the dentist care where the moneys coming from honey as long as they get paid! If it wasn't for the receptionist I would have gave them 5 stars

We went there after my son had an accident to his front teeth. He was made to bite down hard on his damaged teeth which made it bleed more. Then we were told he needed his baby teeth stitched back in as they had dropped. So he would have used gas and injections in an already tender mouth. We didn’t feel good about him so we went to get a second review. We were given an X-ray which showed the two baby teeth loose from the gum and were told there is no need to create trauma by stitching when they will fall out anyway. Do not go to this dentist!!!!

Friendly and helpful reception. Immediate same day appointment for an emergency extraction. The african dentist was professional, caring, non judgmental and very very gentle. Fees was very reasonable and i would certainly go back and recommend to anyone considering going there.

On the 18th of April I was holidaying in New Plymouth and suddenly a tooth broke up and I needed emergency treatment. The African dentist who helped me could not have been nicer or more professional. The staff were friendly and although very busy, stayed open late for me fitted me in for this last minute appointment. The charge was more than reasonable and I am very grateful for their care and consideration. Thank you all at New Plymouth Dental Centre.
