The team at Mandatory are absolutely amazing to work with! Claire fitted me out with a custom made tuxedo for my upcoming wedding and I couldn't be happier. I've had pretty hit or miss luck buying off the rack over the years, though now I own one of the best fitting and classiest tuxedos in Wellington, heck, maybe even New Zealand. I will definitely be back to visit Claire and the team for future wardrobe purchases. Thank you again, you're amazing :)

I have purchased many items here and everything has been great! I have gotten some shirts and pants off the rack, as well as many shirts and a few pairs of dress pants custom made. All of the materials they use are of great quality and super comfortable! The tailoring has been top notch. It is nice to finally have some button downs in my wardrobe that fit the shape of my body well. I’d definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for menswear in Wellington!

You never have to worry about finding the perfect fit…. They will custom fit any piece of their clothing. Add to this exceptional textiles, exceptional service and a neat shopping environment, and it is a great place. Highly recommend.Make sure you try things on, there are often more samples hidden away in the back, but the staff can only get some out for you, if they know what you like!

I had a very positive experience here way back in 2001, buying a jacket for my husband that he continues to treasure. Today, I excitedly brought some overseas friends here who were determined to take home some beautiful local-made clothing. Wow what service! Great selection of incredibly well made and tailored clothes. Getting a jacket made I was so impressed!!.... and the jacket was superb. Attention to detail was amazing and fit was sublime. Will be my go to jacket for many years to come I think!!

Hands down the best menswear store in Wellington! My go to spot for buying gifts for my husband, my dad, my brother. Staff are super friendly and keen to help, there’s always good stuff on offer and exchanges and returns are easy when buying gifts. A must-visit when in Wellington.
