A must do if you're visiting the area! Not expensive, and a great novelty for the whole family. Nothing worse, then the kids being stuck in the car all day.

So easy to catch the ferry to Kohukohu. The ferry's are every hour - just drive up, wait for the next ferry, drive on and pay on board. Easy as.

Ferry schedule display board. 2 lanes Q to board ferry. Follow ferry conductors parking instructions. Conductor will collect vehicle & passengers fare using eftpos when ferry starts journey. Either stay in car/van or enjoy majestic view on passenger deck. Enjoy slow & lovely view as it ferries across the river.

Easy to access ferry, goes north every hour at 30 mins past each hour. Friendly staff, mostly used by local very friendly Maoris who all seem to know each other. Beautiful boat ride, $20 is worth the ride + views alone. To get a car + person across for that money is great value, would highly recommend going up west coast and via this ferry rather than using state highway.

Fast and friendly. The view of the surroundings is quite beautiful.Car price plus driver was $20. Each additional passenger 5 or older was $2. Maybe not bad but I wish it were just per vehicle.

I am going around New Zealand by bicycle, they informed me that I could go by ferry with the bicycle, the captain of the boat was very very kind, the bicycle was free but I paid 10 dollars. for your work
