This is the best shop in Oamaru. Thousands of items - both old and new - from around the world. Amazing book collection. Have bought several items here and I love them all. Owner is very knowledgeable about his products. If you ask him if something is a reproduction, he will tell you the truth.

Seemed like a nice shop but was rudely informed by the owner that no photos were to be taken in store. A very unpleasant experience as I was happy to put the camera away, but did not feel like I should have been told off for it. Would not go to again.

A fool and his money are soon parted.I stupidly bought what I thought was a vintage tin toy from Oasis Oamaru for five times what it was worth. It was actually a recent reproduction.The other rubber toy I bought was claimed to be from the 1930’s when it actually turned out to be produced by Imperial Toys Hong Kong in 1973.The owner (Greg) claims that they don’t sell tin toys, but he did. See the attached photo and tags from Oasis.I should have just gone onto eBay. At least I’d have known what I was really buying.

Always come here when I visit from Christchurch, the store is exactly my style-one off, Asian or Brit colonial influenced furniturepieces with so much history. Great kitsch art pieces. Greg is so friendly and warm, I love coming in and will continue to do so.
