We had a family room before heading to Milford sound next day. Booked too late and no much choice left. Last hotel was 400 in queenstown and this is around 140. A budget hotel however it’s clean and heated / soft beds. Reviews looks bad but I think it’s ok considering this area.

Rooms were clean and tidy, which was great, even if the rooms were dated. Unfortunately, the shower needs some work it could not keep one temperature it kept rotating from cold, warm, hot, which was not ideal. No air conditioning which was a wee bit of a problem.with having such high temperatures over summer we ended up cooking in the room even though the windows were wide open. Had a jug wich needed to be cleaned in the inside, but no toaster or cutlery so only facilities to have a cup of tea and no food preparation. TV only had 2 channels which was odd and only SKY channels which seemed a bit odd. No soap in the dispenser provided. Otherwise good stay the rooms just need a bit of work to keep them up to scatch. We had not many options at this time of year for accommodation, if you are travelling and dont mind a clean room and and not all the amenities then this is perfect, if you are wanting a good shower and a few more bits in the kitchen i would try elsewhere.

Back in the day this hotel was probably one of the best but not any more.Decor is very dated, needs a total make over. No air con in the room or fan, nothing at all to move the air at all. Very hot in the room at night making sleeping difficult.Wifi is free but very patchy though reception did mention this at check in. If working from your room, you would be better off with your own wifi.TV, only one clear working channel, 2 more that were fussy and nothing else.Door security. There isn't any. No internal door chain and the key to your room is a fairly simply lock. There was no safe in the room either. No microwave but there is a kettle and a fridge but you need to fill from the bathroom. Shower pressure could be good and hot and then drop off and quite a bit cooler for a few seconds.Expensive for what is on offer. Would rather pay for something in the town or by the lake and get better facilities. If they ever do a total make over and bring this hotel into the modern age, it could be worth another look but right now it is run down and poor value.

I had concerns about the hotel after reading the reviews here, however, it turned out so much better than I thought. For the amount of money you spend I think it is reasonable. The room was very clean, there are lots of parking an available and the staff was friendly and helpful (gave us advise regarding going to Milford Sound and where to eat locally). The hotel is very close to the Te Anau town centre and the lake. Only downside was wifi wasn’t available in our room and we had to use this in the foyer. Definitely worth a four star to me.

This place is very close to the town of Te Anau. You can walk to town. The hotel is in serious need of upgrading itself. Rooms are generally ok, but small. Toilets and showers are all ok. TV is bad. The place feels a bit worn down, and with low occupancy, it felt kind of strange. For the price that we paid and only needing the room for bed and shower, i guess it is ok. Note to the owner, please clean up your fish tank. It's very pathetic to see a single goldfish swimming in still water.

Very old and dated place needs alot of improvements to bring it into a standard that a Hotel should be, in a beautiful town of Te Anau, first and last stay for me.

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at. No internet,no milk in room, no aircon or fan, stunk of mould in the whole hotel. Stuffing in pillows came out, shower poured all over floor.Do not stay here.

Rooms and service aren't even worth rating. Only positive about this place is they refunded our money. Walked in the door and it absolutely stank of mold. The lady had to go and check if our room had been set up or not despite booking over a month ago and being the only car in site in the car park (place was empty and for good reason). Was hoping the rooms wouldn't smell the same way the reception did but boy were we wrong. Heaters busted no covers on the bedding and couldn't go past the stench. Felt like we would end up sick from the dampness of this place if we stayed a night so we made a hasty get away. Definitely would not recommend.

Due to no staff in the area the accommodation didn't function fully as a 'hotel'. Closed breakfast dining area etc. Which was fine. That's just NZ post covid. But without a replacement way of guests making food themselves it didn't function as a hostel either, which I found difficult as a traveller. The host provided a microwave and toaster in the social area but I had to specifically request cutlery and plates etc. This, the host was more than happy to get for me from the locked up restaurant but I also had to then give him my dirty dishes which I felt bad about. More for him for sure than me. Something to tweek about the social area during this difficult time as there is space for a little kitchen.Never the less the room was lovely... Sunny, clean, large, double bed with lovely mattress with en-suit and coffee and tea amenities with a mini fridge. Which for a lot of people would be enough for their trip if that was the expectation. Especially as the hotel is a 15 minute walk to the town centre and lake. I also cannot fault how accomadating the host was. He never seemed put out by my needs and requests. He always asked how my day was and where I was going. And even insisted on giving me a lift to my bus to QT rather than let me push my bag down the hill to the shuttle pick up which didn't concern me in the slightest but I appreciated his concern and interest in me as a solo female traveller. It's the little things that make you feel safe to do your own thing when travelling yet looked out for that are priceless. Thank you team

When I arrived I was disappointed. The place looks tiered and stuck in the past. However the incredibly warm and genuine welcome was lovely. Rooms were clean and tidy, great shower. A toaster would of been nice though and you can't open what looks like a door onto a small balcony. Other wise the ros are spotless and comfortable. Easy eqlking distance to town.
