Great place to stay! Loved it. Clean toilets/showers. And permenant long term campers were friendly.

It's rather exposed, no gates or warden. I was looking there to camp but I'm not sure I will as it doesn't seem a god spot for tenting and leaving belongings. I haven't stayed there, just parked up and checked out the beach. Looks tidy just my only concern is public access. Nicely sheltered with cliff behind. Train track runs beside but this happens at all campgrounds along matata.

Loved this wee camp ground. Close to the beach, nice clean amenities, and reasonably priced. Just a note, very close to the main road and train.

If I could give more stars, I would! $20 p/n for up to 2 adults and 2 kids. Every campground should have a reasonable price like that. Animals are also welcome. Lovely hot showers with great pressure, and nice clean toilets. Beach is beautiful, clean and superb for fishing. We even rescued a little blue penguin who was injured and in trouble. He is on the mend now. 100% will be back.

Lovely campground, right next to the sea. Lots of beach to let doggy run and swim. Water at sites. Toilets available. Large trees to park under.Just the noise of trains and traffic right throughout the night makes it difficult to sleep.

This is an absolutely beautiful spot on the stunning East Coast. Fantastic for camping or even just a stop to enjoy the view. Would have loved to have spent more time there. The bathrooms are well maintained and very clean.

I have been coming here for nearly 20 years and the whole campground has really improved over that time....every fisher & camper is usually friendly up for a natter or if like me great great snapper for koha....at $20/night for 2 adults/2children....the price is now about right...there is no point in whinging about the trains this was originally NZ railway land gifted to us for our use for ever....get over them just wave to the drivers get a toot....!!!

Train runs through the night, be warned if your in a tent it will sound like it’s going to run you over, awesome showers, fish and chips down the rd from the pub are superb
