Gong cha 貢茶 The Base Hamilton

I usually dont write a bad review but this place made my son so sad yesterday that I would only feel better if I write this review online. After picking my son up from kindy he said he was sad in school and when i asked him what can we do to make him feel better he said he wants some pearls from the milktea shop so I went to the base Gongcha ordered my usual tea and asked for an extra pearl on the side, now I know the cup costs so I brought my own cup and my own little spoon for the little one like how I used to do it only to find out they dont wont allow us to do this. The man who I think is the owner of this place doesnt mind us doing it for as long as we bring our own cup, which I totally understand because the cups are not free, but yesterday the man wasnt there it was this young guy who is the one that served us and a young girl in the afternoon around that was there at the counter at 4:30pm. I asked the guy if he would be kind enough to do it this time given the situation and I wont come back ever again, and he just gave us a cold NO, my son looked at him hoping he would say yes to this poor boy but NO.. i explained to him and he understood, on our way to go to another shop in CBD Wucha or Snowtown he was patiently waiting for us to get there but with the traffic, the poor little boy slept in the car and never was able to have his pearl after a sad day in school. :( Amongst all the milktea shops in Hamilton only this shop wouldnt serve us a boba on the side. I have gone ahead and emailed Gongcha Head Office to see if there is a rule around this as the young boy in the counter said this is Gongcha rule and I want to understand. I have worked in the hospitality business for many years and I have never heard of this unless you are not buying an item from the menu.. but I am buying a drink wanting an extra pearl on the side and I was happy to pay an extra drink just so my son gets the pearl he wanted.. small thing but its a big deal for me.. sorry

Very rude staffs. Went to different stores. No one treats customer like your staff did. Feel like only 3 girls there. No manager around. So that they can do whatever they want. Chatting. Ignoring Customer. Throw loyalty card back to customer. Or this is the Culture of your customer service?Used to go 3 times a week.Get sick of it now.Not surprised no quene in this peak season.

Visited at 3pm on 3 Jan, served by Jennie. Drinks were okay but staff were rude. Politely asked if we could use our student discounts when we were paying, staff were not helpful at all. We were demanded to ‘next time show us your card earlier so it would save us some time and effort.’ Will not visit again.

We usually go to Snow Town thought we’d go here instead since we were at The Base, big mistake. Asked for a brown sugar tea with no ice and pearls got given a ‘dirty tea’ instead. Went back and sorted it out but the guy behind the counter had a really bad attitude. Won’t be going back here again. Go to Snow Town! It’s so much better

Went to kiosk at 9.30am to be told quite abruptly 'we're not open yet!' Looked online and opening time states 9am ? Went for a walk and went back at 9.45am and lady at the back making preparations still didn't look ready to open. A little disappointed as we had only come to the base especially for a bubble tea treat. Will go elsewhere from now on.

Quite expensive for a Gong Cha, as well as the drinks not being up to par in terms of quality when compared to Auckland. Had a honeydew melon green milk tea, but there was an odd powdery texture in the drink that was not experienced at other locations.

Good drinks sold here. Always come here when Im at the base

Very fast service and an amazing outcome! The drinks there are soooo delicious and a great price for how good it is. You can choose exactly what you want and how you want it, and it’s always great. This is my favourite store ever and I go there every chance I have! I suggest this a lot, the workers are really kind too.
