Gary Filer Optometrist

My first pair of glasses was with Gary Filer back in 1998 and I've been with them ever since. As I have keratoconus, I need special lenses which have not been that easy to wear. Over the last 11yrs working with Rob my piggy back lenses have changed my life. I have close to 20/20 vision and I'm so much more confident and independant now that I can wear my lenses with comfort. Thank you so much Gary, Rob and the team and I would highly recommend Gary Filer Optometrist to anyone.

I had been suffering with what felt like something in the corner of my eye and could not see to get it out. Over time the corner of my eye got redder and tender. Things were not improving and all endeavours to wash the object did not work, I wondered if I should see a Doctor if it was an infection but felt a good optometrist might be the better approach. I was extremely happy with my decision. I rang up Gary File Optometrist the receptionist was friendly and efficient and arranged an appointment at short notice. I went in and Gary quickly ascertained that to was in fact and inverted eyelash right in the corner that was rubbing on my eyeball causing the issue. He removed the offending eyelash and others that could may have gone that way. Very happy he fixed it. reasonably priced and friendly service. Would recommend 100%.

Rob and the team at Gary Filer are fabulous!I can honestly say this was the best service I have ever received over the years, both here and in the UK.After doing thorough testing, Rob went the extra mile to get suitable trial contact lenses and new glasses for me. I have a complicated prescription and Rob's knowledge on suitable contact lenses was amazing.There were also lots of frames to choose from and my new glasses were ready a week later. Their prices were also competitive.I would highly recommend them.

Best optometrist I've ever been to. The service is fantastic and thorough. Gary is friendly, knowledgeable and takes time to explain everything. You don't feel rushed or pressured to buy anything. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Gary Filer Optometrists for my annual check-up. The consultation took around 45 minutes and I felt comfortable and relaxed during the entire appointment. I’m so glad that they were able to pinpoint my vision’s issue and prescribe me an appropriate lens. I didn’t feel rushed and I loved that they took their time, I’m 100% coming back for any future check-ups and issues I have regarding my sight/eyes.

How can you’s charge $840 for our 5yr old child’s lenses alone ?So over $1000 for a pair (just1) of tomato glasses.Her next pair needed are more stronger so what you’s are gonna charge $2000?Not to mention you’s went ahead & ordered her glasses after we advised you’s we would go elsewhere.We will be seeking a second opinion on your guys numbers from our specialist because they just don’t add up now our daughter has to go without till her her high user funding rolls over next year because you’s used it all up on that 1x pair.I just don’t understand why did you bother to submit her new prescription knowing you’s used all her entitlement.I Wouldn’t recommend going here at all & Definitely won’t be back.Thank you’s for taking advantage of my daughter.

I had gone to Specsavers as I was having problems with night driving with my contact lenses, they dismissed my concerns and said I needed glasses. I went to Gary Filer for a second opinion and he was amazing, I now have contact lenses for night driving and he was so thorough and understanding. I will absolutely using him from now on as the service was outstanding.

I have been a patient of Gary Filer Optimetrist for over 40 years, for the last 9 years travelling from New Plymouth for my annual check ups. I have always found the service and follow up impeccable. Cannot be faulted. I highly recommend to anyone looking for the very best in eye care
