Awahuri Cat Motel - Cattery

Be aware that this cattery loses cats and gets people's cats mixed up. Not recommended if you want your cat back.

My parents cat was dropped off here for a week long stay as we went on vacation. Excellent service. And kitty was well feed and obviously had some love and attention while we were away.

Made two bookings with Awahuri to do in-home feeding for 2 days over Christmas and 3 days over New Year. The Christmas booking was fine but came home after New Years to find no one had been. My cats had been left for 3 days with no new food or water.When handing in a key, the person in the office seemed very unorganised. I was concerned about the fact my booking was only recorded on a post-it note and specifically asked if he knew that is was two separate bookings, he assured me he knew it was. I asked if he wanted instructions of where to find cat food, he said “we will find it”. I had to prompt him to make sure my contact details were correct in case he had any issues.If booking in-home feeding with Awahuri I would call everyday to make sure they have been.

Had these guys look after my cat for roughly 2 or so months while being unable to get to new Zealand from aus they went above and beyond sending photos every chance making sure our cats needs were met just an all round great place and service

Please, whatever you do. Do not send your beloved cat to this place. The amount of cat’s that have gone missing and ill treated is outstanding. How this place is yet to be closed down, is beyond me!!!

WARNING: YOUR PET IS NOT SAFE WITH THESE PEOPLE. These people will randomly give your beloved cat away to a stranger and tell you there's nothing they can do. They'll try to give you someone else's cat at pickup and tell you your cat has disappeared and there's nothing they can do. What they are doing is truly terrible and they just don't care.

Cat stayed for a week and came back reaking of urine. Won't be using again.

Will not recommendThe owner when there was a fatal crash almost right outside? Just went on and on about himself and lacked empathy regarding the victim. Now? To read about them losing cats? And giving a cat to the wrong family? Sounds like this mickeymouse outfit needs to be shut down.

They really looked after my cat who was there for 23 days, good price and the ability to get updates from the owner which is lovely!
