Shinjuku Japanese Restaurant
Very delicious and authentic Japanese food! Ordered the eel that comes with chicken katsu & tempura and special bento with salmon sushi & sashimi & prawn tempura. Savoured every mouthful! Highly recommended and well worth the wait. Great ambience as well. Love the Japanese musical instrument’s rendition of the Beatles’ classics.

We have dined in most restaurants in Hamilton and tonight we dined at Shinjuku and it is a 10/10 rating from us. The food is authentic and superbly cooked. All 6 dishes that we had were exquisitive and could not be faulted. Small quiet restaurant, service was outstanding, and we talked to the elderly owner who is also the chef and we knew instantly that his cooking skills were masterful, hence the extraordinary food. There was only 1 dessert on the menu, but you didnt need any other choices, because the fried banana with green tea ice cream was amazing! Try it, you wont be disappointed! I really enjoyed dining here. Did was delicious. Service was great. I liked that it was relatively peaceful atmosphere. I will definitely go again.

Some of the best food I've had in my entire life. I order here frequently because I can't get enough. The portion sizes are perfect and the flavors of every dish are fantastic. Service also never misses a beat.

Today I had teriyaki chicken donburi for takeaway lunch. It was the worst teriyaki chicken I ever had. The sauce all soak into the rice. There wasn't any sauce on chicken and no any caramelized, it just like frozen cooked chicken and defrosted. there was tiny little very fine shaved cabbage under the chicken. Rice is about 2 times chicken, cabbage is about .001 time chicken. They do guite good tempura, but they don't use bean, broccoli etc green vegetables, they only use kumara and potoatoe or taro, tempura prawns are nice.For tariyaki chickeI think I'll stick with ijapanese cafe for their teriyaki chicken donburi. Chicken caramelized with sauce freshly cook. Chicken about 2 times of rice. Two chicken tights. Cabbage salad same amount of rice and comes with miso soup cost $4 more but it is worth 100%.

The owners of the restaurant are an elderly couple cook every dish. It's a bit of a wait, but the taste is worth it. Their fried food is so authentic that it's definitely worth trying

Lovely restaurant, will definitely be back sometime. 4 stars only because the food was not the best Japanese food in Hamilton, but definitely yummy!
