The Rodfather Fishing Charters Kaikoura

Steve and Carol gave us a great time! Everything was well organised and loved spending time on the rodfather. There definitely wasn't any lack of fish either! Thanks for the great time!

Honestly had the best time. Highly recommend. Honestly safety first with these guys. Kindness and patience was above and beyond. First timers learnt very well and enjoyed their time. Caught loads of fish. Learnt lots about wild life and equipment. Learnt lots about fish. Smell the blue cod when caught, yes weird but they smell different than just the fishy smell. Learnt so much about bird life and depth of water and loved every moment of it. See you guys for the grouper season.

The best fishing charter I have ever done, without a doubt. Super awesome skipper Steve has expert local knowledge, and certainly knows how to catch fish! We caught heaps of Blue Cod and Perch, but also an amazing Ling, two Blue Nose, and even a Hoki! Took home a mountain of fish and a crayfish to boot! Fantastic value for money, even saw some Orca while out. Thanks Steve!!

Started with great communication and organisation with Carol, to an awesome family trip out with Steve on the boat. Very memorable trip we all had a blast and ended with a full chilly bin!! would highly recommend the rod father fishing charter to anyone... Can't wait to book the next trip!!

Did an 8 hour grouper trip, boat is nicely setup with ease of fishing and the use of electric fishing reels included in the price. Steve is a very helpful host and has the best bacon and egg pie. See you guys again sometime!

After 2 other boats were full we managed to get on The Rodfather, fishing charter. We were so lucky as we were the only ones on the boat. The boat was super equipped with 4 rods, each with electric reels, so much quicker than the other boats, which only had manual ones. It was a wonderful trip and far exceeded our expectations. Steve, the owner was so friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out all the different wildlife and we even got to see Royal Albatrosses really close to the boat. Leaving the boat we each had a crayfish and a bag of filleted fish, which was delicious. All in all it was an amazing trip and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Will definitely be going again.Date of experience: February 2022

Great experience with rodfather. Nice skipper and great equipment.. me and my partner caught 13+ sea perch its really nice to use electronic rod.. the only thing not good is that we dodnt expect that the boat goona be full packed because we got joined by family of 5 people and it turns that we need to take turns on puting our reel side by side it feels like we are wasting the time because we need to wait for the family to reel there rod before we can put our one.. and also as i have said we caught 13 + sea perch and we got only 1 bag of fillet fish which is in the photo.. and the family who caught only 4 to 6 fish got 2 bags of fillet fish which i think is the one we caught also.. my suggestion to other fisherman is to take the fish whole so you can have all the fish that you caught. Anyway its your effort and money was already put on it..But aside from that everything was great i enjoy the fishing trip..

My partner, myself and two of our close friends went out with Steve last week to catch fish for our wedding.The trip was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better fishing guide.Steve was very accommodating and lead us to some winning spots.We would happily recommend this charter to anyone who is looking to haul in a good feed!Thanks Steve!
