Hertz Car Rental Dunedin Airport

Excellent service. Karlene stayed late after our flight was delayed just to make sure we got our vehicle, then helped us with friendly advice about our boomed and made a load of amends to make it work for our holiday. Thank you so much for your help, top service!

Unfortunately renting a car from Hertz/Dunedin Airport was a disappointment: When I picked up the car there was a pungent chemical smell in the car. I didn't think much of it at first as we live in covid times and it is normal to have some cleaning products etc. However, it was so strong that I had to drive with an open window in winter to be able to drive (this has never happened to me before and I have driven lots of rental cars from different companies). At first I suspected a hidden air freshener as the smell was so intense and did not disappear within the first 36 hours of the renting period. When I called to complain I was reassured it was only disinfectant. Regardless of what it was, the amount used was not within the normal range. I was promised a call back for options to mitigate the issue, but that never happened (sadly I could not return the car that day as I was outside Dunedin, otherwise I would have returned it straight away, but that was not possible during their Saturday opening hours based on where I was). For me it was just headaches and nausea, but I believe the amount of chemicals used could be a serious issue for people suffering from asthma.Later I discovered that they had sent me unrelated information of my privately rented car to my work email address which I had not used at all for my booking. I find that quite unprofessional and will consider booking with another rental company next time, where I can drive without being exposed to such high amounts of potentially toxic chemicals.

When I collected my car I was served by a lovely lady Karlene (?) and when I mentioned the best I could that I had a speech issue she was very professional and got me to write down all my details and let me use hand signals when I needed to. Hertz you have a No 1 employee there!

So easy. Didn't take long to pick up my prebooked rental. Very easy process and the staff were awesome

One star, not sure to give to Hertz or google map. The Hertz rental agreement said to drop off at Miller road indeed, but the actualdrop off location is in the airport terminal (airport road).This miller location brought us to a group of cow, as shown in the photo.

Nice little car rental shop in the main premises of the Dunedin Airport.The staff are very nice and friendly.The customer service was good and communication very clear.The car we picked up was in great condition and easily located on the nearby parking.There was a small waiting line which got cleared quickly.The overall process of rental was nice and easy.The prices which we had got while booking in advance were the lowest too.The location was easily approachable and quickly accessible from the main terminal.Overall well recommended.

The staff who attended us was very pleasant and helpful. Quick check-in and collection of car was seamless. We are really happy with the car given, comfortable for 5 adults and big luggage space.
