Affordable Motor Home Rentals are awesome!Firstly when I went to enquire about booking a motor home (during Summer school holiday time) many bigger companies were not prepared to let me take a 7 day hire.However, this was not a problem for Affordable Motor homes who were happy to take my week long booking for three of us (including a 6 year old).I found prior communication was good from Lynda and when I requested an optional extra in the form of table and chairs at a later date, this was added for no extra cost which was appreciated.Picking up the van was easy and Lynda went through all the features the van has.While the Motor Home may not be the newest model it had everything you needed to make you comfortable and was easy to drive with more grunt to get up hills than I imagined (this was the first time I’ve every driven one).Dropping off the van was also easy and Lynda gave us a ride back to the airport for our flight home.So overall a fair price, a reliable/comfortable/clean vehicle, great communication and awesome customer service.I would definitely use Affordable Motor home rentals again and highly recommend them!

We had an amazing experience with Affordable Motor Homes. The compact but spacious sleepervan (Toyota Alphard) gave us no trouble and was so well kitted out. It was the tidiest sleepervan we saw, and we saw a lot. The bed/dining area was comfortable to sleep in and sit upright in, which was vital in chillier autumn weather. We used the kitchen for almost every meal over our 3 week adventure which took us from their pick-up in Auckland to dropping off in Christchurch. They thought of everything: a little rechargeable lantern in the car, just the right utensils and kitchenware, a cooler box they fitted with an adjustable dial for maximum efficiency when the motor was running or not, solar panels on the roof. The team (family owned business) were great, full of useful info at a phone call. Their depot had a book exchange and a place to pick up (and leave behind) food and other useful things from other campers like tinfoil, cooking oil etc. We forgot something in the van at the end and they dropped it to our accommodation the next day, no problem.

Lynda and the whole team at Affordable Motor Home Rentals have been fantastic.I got a very reasonable quote from them, via NZ Rankers, and the thing that made them standout from the others was their excellent communication.They provided extremely helpful (& cost-saving) tips to help us prepare for trip to New Zealand and get the most out of our camper van rental experience. I probably came up with at least 7 or 8 questions in the couple of months after we reserved the van and before we actually got to New Zealand. Lynda answered them all promptly and with the utmost patience.Once we arrived and picked up our van in Auckland, we knew we made the right choice. It worked flawlessly for us, wasn’t too big to maneuver on the (sometimes) very narrow roads and yet was very comfortable for sleeping. Our van – a Toyota Alphard, was customized with a custom cabinet in the rear which had compartments for gas stove, small propane tank, sink, small refrigerator, kitchen supplies, dishes, and glassware. Shelly, our Auckland contact at pickup, did a great job showing us how things worked, made sure we knew what to do at the few toll road locations we might encounter, recommended apps to download to help us locate campgrounds wherever we were going, and gave us directions to the nearest grocery stores to stock up and get on our way. She answered all the questions we had at the time, and gave us their number to call her or Lynda if we had more questions or needed assistance of any kind during our 2 month rental.We met lots of other camper van renters like us on our trip, and on more than a couple occasions they had complaints about their van, and how their rental companies dealt with them if they tried to resolve the problem.When we returned the van in Christchurch, we were pleased to finally meet Lynda and to be able to thank her in person for all her help. We can’t recommend Affordable Motor Home Rentals more highly.

Travelled in end Sept / early Oct 2018 in their 4 berth campers and it ran like a dream. We rented the 2 berth from Affordable for the first time in 2016 and decided to upgrade this time round.Absolutely no regrets on that decision - the 4 berth camper had no issues at all and ran better than the camper booked (from one of the big name brands eg britz mighty etc) by our relatives we were traveling with.Lynda and the team were such friendly and welcoming people. Easy to get on with and very helpful in answering all our questions. Really glad we went with Affordable Motor Homes once again and we will continue to do so every time we travel to NZ.- Jude & Robert

Affordable Motor Home Rentals is easily one of the best places in NZ to hire a camper!The Alphard model is exceptionally functional, so well designed and superbly equipped for days or weeks of adventure.The lounge area is great to relax in during the day and is easily converted into night mode.The rear kitchen is so well organised, with everything you need at your fingertips.To top it all, Lynda looks after you every step of the way and is so friendly, helpful and kind - she also makes sure you understand how everything works for a smooth and highly enjoyable adventure!Very highly recommended - book now!

Great experience renting. Very good comunication with Lynda, she helped me with some doubts that I had and make the hole trip possible. The van was equipped with everything we needed and more, decent amount of space for luggage, very well organized, bed was actually confortable and the driving was very smooth. Affordable price and a nz company. 100% recommended!

I would highly recommend Lynda and Affordable Motor Home Rentals. My fiance and I were travelling around SE Asia and left our campervan booking far too late (in hindsight). After putting out a request through Rankers, Lynda reached out and offered us a fully-equipped self-contained van at a great rate compared to some other providers we were looking at, many of whom had no availability.I'm not sure why this company doesn't have as many reviews as some others as we had a great experience with them and highly recommend. They're family-owned and you always feel like there's help available. We had some teething issues with the van (a battery needed to be replaced, and this was organised smoothly via Lynda at no cost to us).The van had some decent mileage on it (around 100k I think) but drove great and looked better fitted out and more modern than a lot of other campervans we saw as we drove around the country.We hired the van from Auckland rather than Christchurch, the latter where their main office is. The pickup process for the van in Auckland wasn't as smooth as we'd have liked, I think because they have to outsource there, but any issues we had were promptly resolved by Lynda.Basically - if you're still unsure which campervan rental company to choose in NZ, you can't go wrong with these guys. Good vans, highly reasonable rates, and a friendly, personal service. There are lots to choose from out there, and I'm not sure I would have found these guys unless they came to me, but I'm sure glad they did.P.s. I would recommend taking out some excess insurance, either with the company or via third party. Windscreen chips are common in NZ and this happened to us twice. No fault of the company, but something we were glad we were covered for!

Such a great motor home rental.. first of all the communication was 10/10 the van we hired was just perfect! It literally had everything we needed and was so comfortable. The drive was so good and easy .. especially for me because I’m not super confident with a larger vehicle. But I felt very happy and confident driving it! Thank you so much

An older sleeper van but ran very comfortably and very well set out. A lovely family company who are soo nice to deal, and little details are thought of. Lynda even came to collect us from around the corner after our next rental fell through and they were able to find a spare vehicle for us..and lent us some bug spray! Comfy to sleep in, cooking facilities were often preferable to a shared kitchen facility!! A clear, detailed and concise explanation pre set-off. Plus your card is only debited IF you actually have an incident. I can recommend them without hesitation and Affordable will be my first stop next time I visit NZ!

Great experience, highly recommend!I'm surprised why this guy is not in top rate with such excellent service and high quality vans that they offer.I had 6 days in the West Coast in the Alphard Sleepervan from Affordable Motorhome. Linda and her team went extra miles to explain all details and options available, they even upgraded me to a self-contained sleepervan for same price.The van is in good condition, well-equipped, and interior is nice, clean and very tidy. The daily rate may look slightly higher than other companies but in total it's actually way cheaper as no hidden cost. Definitely book their van again for my next trip in South Island.
