I first made a booking enquiry for bikes and transportation via the online platform. As they state it may take up to 72h to reply, I called them a day later. There, they orally confirmed my booking, and promised an e-mail confirmation. After waiting a couple of hours for the confirmation, I decided to drive there myself by car to firm it up personally. In a personal booking procedure at the office desk, we settled things. I drove back home in peace, looking forward to the arranged trip 2 days later. But the same night, I received a cancellation by e-mail.I reckon this was because sheBikesHeBikes was extremely busy at that moment. Good for them making good business, honestly! But poor that they are a little careless about hopeful customers.

Fantastic service. My wife and I booked to do the Central Otago Rail trail over three days from Clyde to Middlemarch, with shebikeshebikes. The arranged our accommodation in Clyde, Lauder and Waipiata and provided helpful advice on things to see and places to have meals. Their friendly and efficient shuttle services from Queenstown to Clyde and Middlemarch to Dunedin was top notch. The bikes were good too, with waterproof pannier bags. We'll be back to do the Roxburgh and Dunstan trails.

Poor experience.We rented an e-bike for myself and a push bike for my partner to complete the Dunstan trail over Easter weekend.The test ride at the office for both bikes was fine. The bikes were loaded up and off we went to Cromwell for the start of the track. However when we arrived in Cromwell, my partner noticed that the mechanism around his chain had been damaged on the trailer during the ride to Cromwell and the chain was making an awful chugging sound along with added friction when he went to pedal. He pointed this out to the guy who dropped us to Cromwell and the guy said it wasn’t ideal but it would be fine to complete the trail. Now, we live by the “she’ll be right” kiwi code as much as anyone but in this case, she was definitely not right. We stopped multiple times on the trail to try and fix the chain issue with the tools we had but could not get it fixed. The result was that my partner had a horrible time - constant noise from the chain as well as added friction (especially unwelcome on the long uphills).We ended up having to alternative our bikes to complete the trail as doing the entire thing with a push bike like that wasn’t doable.The worst part was, when we arrived back to the office and pointed out the issue to the guy receiving the bikes back, he said he couldn’t understand why his colleague had let us go with the bike in that condition because he would have had the tool kit to fix it. So I’m not sure if he just couldn’t be bothered or why he didn’t offer that.Beautiful trail but really poor service from this company. Make sure and insist that the staff address any issues you have with the bike before you set off as 42k is a long way to go if something isn’t right.

Great set up, really well organized from booking to bike return. Very comfortable transport from Clyde to Cromwell. Set the bike up and time to have a trial ride before loading the bike on the trailer. Cannot rat them highly enough.

Many thanks to Carol who was working on a holiday and helped me secure a day cycling on the Lake Dunstan Trail with my last minute inquiry. I had a great time!

These bike trails are tough! Don’t underestimate Lake Dunstan trail (but do it anyway because it is an absolute spiritual experience)As intimidated as I was, the incredibly organised and knowledgeable staff from shebikeshebikes made the entire journey enjoyable from start to finish.I really appreciated the tips throughout, the flexibility to let us drive to our own starting points, the ability to make custom itineraries with multiple trails and even them providjng simple modifications to the bikes to make them more comfortable.The e-bikes are highly highly highly recommended

Very comprehensive bike trail organisation with everything running like clockwork. Great hotels booked for us and my car transferred to the end. Met some really nice people along the way and had a great. 3 days. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very competitive price too
