Perfect spot for a stop on your way, with plenty of space for parking and overnight, only for self-contained vehicles. There are two places where is possible to ice skating during winter. The area is managed by DOC and the price is 8$/adult&night, be responsible and keep the place clean. There are two toilets very clean, and also two taps of water not treated. The sleeping area is very flat and quiet during night.

We were lucky enough to be here when it snowed overnight. Great local walks. Nice camping spot

Lovely doc campsite. Standard basic site with non-flush (clean and not smelly) toilets and taps. Nice space to camp. Sandflies present - take repellent. Kids loved making huts in the bush. Dog friendly. A nice bike track to ride into St Arnaud and Lake Rotoiti. Plus other tracks in the mountain bike park. I’d love to see the ice skating pond in winter but not sure I’d want to be camping then.

Lovely doc camp to spend the last night of our trip at. Lovely bird song. Very popular with other motorhomers and campers.

The lake is crystal clear and very nice for swimming. There are lots of eels next to the peer. Lots of well prepared hiking trails.

Very basic. Good, but 10$ is quite expensive when have nothing but smelly toilets on site. You can't pay there, you have to go the the DOC office (8am-4.30pm), that's not very convenient (same for all campsites in St Arnaud)

Try and arrive before 3pm. It got busy after that. There are areas for camper vans to park up and then a grassy area off to the side for tents. 2x long drop toilets. Rained when we stayed and water was pooling where the designated camper spots were. DOC managed pay cash at the info board.

Average camp site...only $8 so you can't expect much but the toilets are clean at least. In comparison the West Bay camp site across the road is $13 and has clean water, bins, showers and a kitchen so that's the obvious and much better choice. Just make sure you book as that one does fill up.

Great place to stay with your dog, quiet at night, but watch for the sand flies in the evenings
