Waitomo Caves Hotel
We had a wonderful stay here. The hotel could possibly do with a little modernisation or some refresh, but overall it has s lot of character and we enjoyed the experience. A fantastic location however, as Waitomo has loads of interesting places to visit and has beautiful scenery with those little hills everywhere.

Waitomo Caves Hotel
Fascinating place. Reputed to be the most haunted hotel in NZ. Staff were few and far between but they worked very hard and were very pleasant. Food was excellent. Definitely worth a visit but bear in mind the place needs complete re-refurbishment. An historic building that should be restored.

Beautiful antique hotel. It is old with a lot of character, yet very clean. The Hotel needs a bit of tender loving care. Overall we were happy with our stay. And we didn't see or hear any ghosts as the hotel is notorious for

Waitomo Caves Hotel
Staying at this hotel was like being in a time capsule, from the decor to the service (except with lots of power sockets!). The hotel is not renovated in a retro style, it is the original which made my experience perfect. Even though everything is old, is it clean.We had the seafood platter at the restaurant which was fresh and delicious. The dining room was beautiful retro which just added to the experience. There are very few hotels like this so enjoy it whilst you can!

I love this hotel. I have stayed many times and love coming back. Yes its tired and outdated a bit but that is all part of the charm. If you expect a lovely old place like this to look like a modern hotel in the middle of Waitomo you are dreaming and this is not for you. Go to Hamilton. If you want to experience a bit of old world charm... you got it here. Love it

Lovely old building with many original features especially the wooden part of the building. Reception lady was lovely but restaurant girl completely disinterested to the point of rudeness. Not a social vibe at the bar at all. Many parts of the hotel smelt mouldy or off. Room was clean and well presented. Would have liked to have had some information about the history of the hotel available to read.

Waitomo Caves Hotel
This is a very old historic hotel. It really does need an upgrade on many things inside and out, but definitely not the staff. They were very friendly and genuine.I asked for some additional coffee and milk and they very very happy to oblige.There are two modern spa pools for guests to use. These were clean and in a nice setting.If you don't mind some dated features and you can look past the ripped wallpaper etc you will have a comfortable stay here.The hotel is very centrally located.We enjoyed it for what it was... historic, interesting experience and the spa was a treat after a full day of caving adventures.

Surprisingly low budget feel for having such a stately old house. The restaurant messed up our dinner order, and the spa was a bit gross. The room was super barebones, but the bed was good. However, the house is super cool and the views are great. Hard to recommend whole heartedly, but not a horrible place by any stretch. Just be prepared for a simpler stay than you may be expecting.

The hotel has its charm since it's built 100 years ago. The bed is okay comfortable. The TV was on when we got to the room. Not sure if it's hotels way to make us feel home, I actually found it creepy particularly since it's an old building. The lady at the reception is not very nice. She seems to be angry about something all the time.

Lovely location and beautiful view from the back garden. Staff is friendly as well, however the cleanliness of the place could be improved. Rooms are tiny and smelly. The decor dated and paint falling off the wall. There is mould everywhere in the bathroom and the two spa pools are not kept well. The water in them smelled mouldy, was yellowish-green and the bottom dirty. Some rooms have a coffee/tea station outside which is not kept, the water in the thermos was cold. Overall not good value for the price and the pictures on various booking websites must have been taken years and years ago.
