Opoutere Beach Public Park.
Beautiful, quiet beach. Long stretch of white sand. Lovely walk through the forest to get there. Dogs permitted on a leash. Other side of the beach is a great place to gather shellfish at low tide but take note of DOC signs relating to quantity allowed and if any algae are present in the waters. Also be aware of bird nesting areas during certain parts of the year.

White sand beach. Like in a movie, no one around. Beautiful to have a walk on the beach.

Toilets are off the drive, on the way to the Public parking where most campers park up.The toilets were clean, flushable, had running water (non potable) for the sink taps, a soap dispenser and hand air dryer.There's a small rubbish bin outside the toilets.

Love the beach. Good parking and also a good place for the family to go for good day out.Picked a lot of pups pipis, muscles, fish , and crabs.Three location of the beach means is close to town and supplies.

Great forest for huts and an easy walk, this is a great family place. The beach can be a bit dangerous with no lifeguards, though.

Has public toilets and short walk to great beach. Children can play in the water by the footbridge at the carpark at the low tide.

Opoutere Beach Public Park.
Just a quick trip for us to Opoutere, but it was a relatively short walk from the carpark (apparently 700m) and all flat and easy walking to the beach. Mostly sand along a fairly narrow path through a pine forest. The parking area is gravel and caters for campers.

Wonderful place to go to get away from the busy city. No shops here, just so you know and parking is very limited, I would say 20 cars max.

Beautiful spot overlooking estuary. 700 metres walk through trees to lovely long yellow sand beach. Toilets are at carpark. Beach faces east. Good for swimming and some surfing.
