Mondello Kaikoura

Positives: This was a great spot for a one night stop to explore Kaikoura.The view of the mountains from the back terrace was lovely.The gardens and unit were well looked after and clean.Parking was good and being near the back, the unit had no traffic noise despite its convenient location.Negatives: We had a two bedroom apartment, it was a bit on the small side compared to some we stayed in on our trip. There was no soundproofing between our two bedrooms and the lounge area which added to the feeling of being small.The people in the upstairs unit were practising a flute on their balcony and this was very irritating noise when we wanted to have our door open and relax but even when the door was shut it was invasive.The bathroom smelled bad like the drains might need a clean out.

When you booked for 3 nights and you have still to ask for clean towels than say that something about the service.Don't cover yourself with Covid - Omicron situation at the end of February 2023.

We had a lovely 1 night stay here. The view of the mountains from the room/back patio area is incredible! Lovely clean room, sky TV and the shower was good. The location is far enough from the main town for it to be lovely and quiet. The noisiest thing here were the birds and that's just brilliant to wake up to.

We had a superb stay at Mondello - the owner was very welcoming. The room was spotless and very spacious and very quiet. We had a fabulous view of the mountains from our room. It was only a short walk into town (less than 5 minutes) and a further 5 minutes to the whale watching (of which we had booked onto). The laundry room onsite was a great asset. The owner also allowed us to store our packs on day of departure which we were very grateful for as our onward transport was late in the day and saved us lugging our packs around all day. We would highly recommend and our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

The room was small but clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The internet speed was awesome. Unfortunately the bed wasn't great and there was a very musty smell in the bathroom.

We loved our room. End of the building, second floor. Corner view. Unfortunately we only stayed one night, but they let us have an early check in so it worked our perfectly. They also recommended the Seafood BBQ on the way to the seal colony and that was great advice. Would definitely stay there again if they have that same room available.

If I can come back to Kaikoura I will stay again at this hotel . Loved the room, the service with a smile and the close proximity to the town centre.

The best room I've stayed in EVER!!! Wonderful service, will definitely stay here again. Clean, tidy amazing bed, huge TV. Loved it.
