Jimmy's Smokehouse
Decided to come here after seeing some review as we love bbq/smoke meat. We ordered the Eye fillet platter. The sauce on the side I feel didn't match with the meat that well so I didn't really use it after the initial try. The eye fillet was around medium well and tasted ok. I love the sausage, it was nicely flavoured and have a little bit of spice. The ribs, chicken lollipop and the pulled pork are also not bad. The garlic bread was really good, slightly charred and buttered. The potato and slaw was good. Overall, quite happy with the meal.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jimmy's Smokehouse on Oxford Terrace in Christchurch Central City, and I cannot rave enough about the exceptional experience I had. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere enveloped me, with the beautiful wooden interior offering a homely touch. The distinctive tables, featuring glass tops that revealed charming wood cuts, pebbles, and tiny plants, truly felt like eating on a lush garden and added to the overall enchanting ambience.Our group dined there for dinner, and we were all blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The standout dish for me was the Double Fillet (150g eye fillet and 150g pork eye fillet), which was cooked to absolute perfection. It was clear that every single person at our table was thoroughly satisfied with their meal, with each dish presented beautifully and bursting with flavour.Having had such an incredible dinner experience, I decided to return to Jimmy's Smokehouse the following morning, to try their breakfast offerings. I was delighted to discover that their morning menu was just as exquisite. I ordered Jimmy's Big Brekkie, which consisted of eggs, jalapeno sausages, smoked mushrooms, hand-made bacon, smoked potato, grilled garlic ciabatta, and Jimmy's tomato sauce. I can confidently say it was the best breakfast I've had in Christchurch. The Jimmy's tomato sauce, in particular, was incredibly tasty and elevated the entire dish.In conclusion, Jimmy's Smokehouse on Oxford Terrace is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable and delectable dining experience in Christchurch. Very confused with the 4.5 stars review, maybe the company changed hands? Staff there were super friendly but I ordered half racked bbq ribs in Smokey BBQ sauce and they served me naked ribs that looked steamed. I asked if they forgot the sauce, then they said the sauce is in the pot(under the garlic bread) but the sauce in the pot is tomato sauce…. Then I questioned that it’s tomato sauce and they send me a pot of bbq sauce. Then I looked at the menu again it said RIBS IN SMOKEY BBQ SAUCE. After that I looked at this place’s old Google reviews and the pic of the ribs in the past looked saucey. Then I decided to ask for a refund (which was super embarrassing) and at the same time I overheard the waitress asking the chef “why did you put sauce in a pot on the side?” in a genuine manner (it was like she was genuinely curious). I just left the restaurant after I got my money back. It was disappointing because I was starving and I’m in Christchurch for a work trip. I was super worried that they wouldn’t refund the money then I’d be starved all night (work reimbursed for one dinner a day) cuz the ribs were inedible.

Good food and very good service. It's close to Riverside Market and there is a river nearby. We ordered Meat Combo and Salad. Price is reasonable. We really enjoyed it. We will come back again. One of the best service I ever have in Christchurch restaurant.

Jimmy's Smokehouse
I had the best steak here. So tender and well-seasoned, that you'll have to find this place again. Also fish and chips are fantastic. You can feel it as you bite it. Other side dishes and drinks do a great job to enjoy main dishes much more. Tried other smokehouses nearby but cannot name one single place better than here.

It was the best meal ever.
The seafood was cooked smoothly and not tough, and the meat tasted good, too. I loved this barbecue
And the last one you can't leave out is fish and chips. The crispy fries are amazing. Make sure to try fish and chips! It's a good restaurant I want to go to every time I go to Christchurch.

Food was amazing. Hats off to the chefs & cooks the food was delicious. Price is very reasonable too. Friendly and helpful staff and a nice decor/atmosphere.(The only fault; which other reviews have also noted, was the loud 'young' music, it did feel a bit night cluby but the overall atmosphere does not reflect this, just need the music turned down a bit)

Great service and food! Good portion sizes and the flavour was amazing. We were a group of 8 and everyone was impressed. The only negative is cocktails (mojito, tequila mule and sangria) were a bit too sweet for our liking, but the food was awesome! Definitely will be back!

Jimmy's Smokehouse
This was our first time at Jimmy’s smokehouse. There was a 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the staff were very friendly. We loved the cocktails and were reasonably priced. The only let down for us was the loud gangster rap music playing all night. We felt it didn’t really suit the decor/theme of the place.
