Boulcott Street Bistro
Absolutely exceptional. Warm and inviting reception from front of house, knowledgeable friendly bar staff. Our waiter was spot on. Twice asked to make the choice of dish and neither disappointed. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection. All my life I've been wanting to go to this 'Diamond in the rough ' and all my expectations were met. I highly recommend this establishment. Thank you my friends, I will be back.

Amazing food lovely atmosphere everyone was friendly especially the brother who made a coffee shots in his machine kept us up on the drive back to Auckland. Food was great especially the steak and lamb shank. Would highly recommend dinning in Wellington.

Absolutely appalling experience from a restaurant I used to adore and frequent once a month until I moved away from Wellington last October 2022. My son and I ordered what we always ordered. Beef fillet for myself, and duck confit for my son with side plates of cauliflower gratin and brussel sprouts with feta. The brussel sprouts were so overly cooked, it was hard to chew and tasted like rubber. Could not and did not want to finish it. The bread that came with our mains was so badly burnt, it was charred black. We were planning at the beginning to order mains and dessert, but upon complaining about the food, the waiter informed us that he would fix the issues immediately, and never came back to us. We decided to go elsewhere for dessert. A total waste of $170 that left us literally with a bad taste in our mouths. I will never come back to this establishment, and will never recommend this restaurant again as a good place to eat. Bad food, bad waiter for not doing what he said he would. My rating, 2 out of 10. And that's because the wine was nice.

We had one evening in Wellington and we were fortunate in choosing to eat at the Boulcott Street Bistro. Our waitress, Audrey, was one of the best we’ve had eating in restaurants on four continents.Audrey had an infectious lovely attitude and made a brilliant wine recommendation from her home town of Martinborough. We started with the octopus as our entree, then My wife had the Lamb Shank and I had the Duck Confit. The food was excellent! Our only regret is that the Bistro isn’t closer to home so we can enjoy it more often then this one trip.

Hands down the best meal we had in Wellington! The steak melted in your mouth and the pork had the most delicious crust on it. Our starters were delicious as well, and the elderflower sour that my partner got was perfect. Highly recommend!!

Really enjoyed coming to boil city street bistro. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We got the steak and the lamb, and they did not disappoint. The meat were cooked to perfection with the beef being medium rare and the lamb just fell off the bone. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back again.

A lovely 3 course set menu featuring their Welly on a Plate festival dine dish. Giving them 4 stars only because their portions are quite small and when the bistro is busy, it gets crowded and noisy.
