Excellent freedom camping area. Plenty of room for parking overlooking Lake Dunstan. The only negative was the 3 to 5 degrees slope.

Great freedom. Camp.. 3 night..heaps of space for everyone. Places to walk. Close to town toilets. Rubbish collection by the most friendly worker a council has ever employed. What an asset she is. Not much activity on lake but lots of campers walking in for a dunk.

Great camping spot nearby Cromwell.It has lots of parking space for fully contained vehicles, but it doesn't allow for tent camping.There are no pre-allocated or specially designed parking/camping slots, so it mostly depends on each one to find their own.There is a toilet with running water (but kinda broken sink in male's side), and another bio toilet on the other side of the camping ground.The camping time is limited to 3 nights and it's free without any registration requirements.There're several good swimming spots and a great view over the sunrise coloring the nearby hills.

Huge site near the main road and the lake. Fantastic views if you are early. All the spots along the water where full. Looked like loads of people who stay here much much longer that a few nights. Gives you a chance to meet and have a chat with a kiwi. Toilets aren't clean. So we just stayed the night and went on. But lovley area to be!

Amazing campground with toilets and wifi. Highly recommended and probably why the council limit this to a 3 night stay... I can stay here for a week

We loved this place, if you get in by 3-4K you should be able to get a lakeside spot. No need to rush out at 10am so you can enjoy the quiet of this out of town spot. It is right near the “water adventure park” which is great to wear out the kids. The wind does pick up for n the afternoon and at night. Be prepared to carry your rubbish out as the bins provided so not cater for the crowds at time. A great free camp spot.

Great freedom camping location! Has free WiFi and flush toilets. It's lake is one of the warmest in the region and we enjoyed our swim. Until the end of summer there is a water park at a cost of approx $40 for a 2 hour session.

Handy little freedom camping location near Cromwell. We were there on a Saturday night and it was so busy that it was near impossible to find a spot. Toilets were handy but not very nice. My husband said the men's were extremely dirty. Definitely BYO toilet paper. There are bins but they also fill up quick. The lake right next to it is handy for swimming and you can use the Lake Dunstan Free WiFi if you answer a short survey.
