Massage Mechanic - Muscle Maintenance Rehabilitation

Wonderful experience with CJ I wish I found her first! I'd booked in with one of the local spa's the day before, (over)paid $140 for a one-hour session and it was awful! I'm a personal trainer so understand my body muscles. I told the indian therapist I needed work on my legs and all she did was avoid the area. 30 minutes into the massage I had to ask her again to pay attention to my hamstrings and quads as they needed more work. She ignored it and kept massaging my back. I asked her three times and she barely touched my legs! Instead she started with a soft massage on my calves only to press a little hard on them not working the hamstrings or the quads at all. A total waste of money and I left really dissatisfied! That night we dined at one of the local restaurants and I overheard a guy at the next table raving about his massage session he'd had earlier that day. I asked him where he went and he told me about Massage Mechanic. My husband looked up and the website, found the facebook page and booked in a session for the next day!! What a major difference!! And the price was much better as well at $90 for one hour! I was so glad to find CJ! She instantly recognised my issue as she started her thorough assessment of my body and she hadn't even touched my legs!! She understood exactly why my legs were giving me grief and where the root of the problem actually was and she explained the treatment she was going to use for the session. She also explained the difference between spa/beauty therapists treatments and actual neuromuscular therapists. On top of that, she constantly explained what she was doing and why. As a personal trainer, I know alot about the muscles but, CJ gave me more knowledge and understanding of my body. She always checked in with me about the pressure and prepared me for the intensity when she needed to. I loved the tingling and heat sensations I felt when the tissues would release. She used a mixture of thai yoga massage, cupping and lomi lomi including the normal movements of western massage and it was the best massage Ive ever had. I got my husband to book in the next day and he loved his session too. I wish we lived closer because we would book in with CJ every day!!!! If you really want a therapist who understands connective tissue and body mechanics, you need to book with a neuromuscular/musculoskeletal" therapist like CJ. CJ is very knowledgeable and experienced, lovely to deal with and gave me daily tips to reduce muscle pain. I felt that I was in good hands with someone who knows a lot about the human body and various health conditions - the treatment was tailored to my particular aches and pains, and my partner's was tailored to his. I had a 60-minute East-meets-West massage, and my partner had a 30-minute one - we both enjoyed it despite the pain of a good massage - CJ checked in with us how much pain/deep-tissue work we wanted before the massage started so this was up to us. Both of us would definitely go back and would go regularly if it was based closer to where we live!
