The Convent Hotel

I stayed a night at The Convent on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and well styled the hotel is. My room was on the second floor with a modest view over Great North Rd, some very thoughtful inclusions like free snacks and drinks and a beautiful bathroom with quality toiletries.The room was also quiet with a comfortable bed and pillows as well as plenty of curtains and blinds to block out any light at night.The wifi signal in my room was not super strong, but worked well enough to do some work and watch a movie. Also, note the in-house restaurant is closed on Mondays and there's not a lot of food options directly near the hotel.

Quaint little renovated hotel in Grey Lynn that used to be a nunnery. It is home to an amazing restaurant called Ada that you should definitely making a reservation for if you're staying here or not.Located a small walk away from some great cafes and shopping in Ponsonby.The rooms are small but to be fair you're not going to be spending a tremendous time in your room when in Auckland. You have all the amenities you need: fast wifi, a TV to stream to, kettle with instant coffee and teas, and a shower with good water pressure. The main downside was relating to room cleanliness, this is probably due to staffing shortages. That said something were unacceptable there was a used cigarette underneath bed in a non smoking room. The ventilation in the bathroom is always on which was weird not to mention covered in dust. Another issue with the room is they tend to heat up with the sun, since there is no ventilation it can make for a very difficult and sweaty night.Hannah was a fantastic concierge, made us feel at home from the moment we walked in to when we hopped into our cab for the airport.We enjoyed our stay but not sure if we'd come back in future.

The location of this hotel is excellent. A 15 minute walk to Eden park where we watched ed Sheeran. It is a converted convent. And each of the rooms are cosy. There is no aircon in the rooms and I was nervous about lol the crosses but I survived lol. The bathroom was lovely and the service was excellent. There is a restaurant onsite but we didn’t have time to try this out. There is onsite parking. If you are looking for a big room then this place is not for you. But the bed was very comfortable and the atmosphere was very cosy.

What a gem! Check in and check out were quick and easy, the hotel is decorated with great taste. The room has everything you need for a pleasant stay, and while not big (I had read this in previous reviews) it doesn’t feel cramped either. It was very quiet when we were there. I’ve really appreciated the style and decoration. I will definitely recommend this hotel and stay again!

I called the hotel 20 minutes before closing in desperate need for 3 stranded teenage girls. I hung up when it went to answer machine but had a call back within 5 minutes - no other hotel had been able to assist. Deepak was sooo helpful and went out of his way to help me sort a room for the girls and in case they couldn’t get there before reception left for the night, provided me with an email for after hours check in. Absolutely BRILLIANT service! Thank you so so much!

Loved this hotel! It’s not in central Auckland. But if you need a place to stay in Grey Lynn the rooms here are really nice. Do note there are many rooms to choose from. And the cheaper ones are quite small. Friendly staff and cool vibes! They have limited parking spots so make sure to request early if you need one. One room type has a bath. The rest of the rooms only have a shower.

Frustrating…..after paying $285 per night, we were amazed to find that our bed had not been made and our towels not renewed as indicated in the ‘room refresh’ information. But that’s not all…… we had to ask for more toilet paper!! If we were looking for something positive to add, we could say that the bed was comfortable .Very disappointing. We will definitely not stay here again.

LOVE THIS PLACE.ADA RESTAURANT HERE IS THEE BEST!!my daughter and l had an upgrade to a balcony room. I love the lotions abd potions clean smelling bed sheets and pillows. The nibbles for free in your room. Who doesn't love these touches,? and the milk frother for the Nespresso.......The staff are cool the rooms are awesome the interior design,, man we love it. The only place we stay at because ITS CLEAN , DID I MENTION CLEAN ?? SAFE ,WARM ,CLOSE TO CAFES ETC , AND REASONABLY PRICED.If you are fortunate to stay there when the Ada testaurant is open them l recommend booking when you book your rooms. It's popular. Balcony rooms are the best, we ordered Uber Eats late one night got a Red out on the balcony with 3 of us Fantastic place to stay.

The Convent hosted my daughter’s wedding last week. What a wonderful venue for an intimate wedding. The staff of the convent were amazing, the hotel ambiance and accomodation very cool and the cuisine of Ada Restaurant superb. Highly recommend for that special event.

A beautifully renovated hotel but we were put in a room with a wet room for a bathroom which was really unsuitable. We also got moved one night because the door broke and they didn’t offer us any compensation or an upgrade for the following night. It’s also very loud with the restaurant across the hall!
