Went in for a late lunch with 5 of my friends, we were greated with a warm energetic welcome to the portside restaurant, seated promptly and given water bottles along with our menus. We ordered a meat platter to share as an entrée and was happy with the selection of meats and how they were cooked. We then had a main order of 3 sirloin steaks a Thai style mussels with a garlic bread, a chicken burger and a chicken salad with prawn skewers and a beef burger, no complaints from our table and all meals came out together no more than 15mins after the guy cleared our table. Enjoyed the atmosphere, great music great food and drink, enthusiastic, helpful and friendly waiter. Totally recommend stopping in at the kentish and compliments to the chef for perfectly cooked steaks! .

Only reviewing the restaurant we ate in as we didn't stay in the hotel at all.TLDR Please don't go here. Eat a bag of crisps or buy a pie at a service station. Longer review below...I really don't want to say anything disparaging about this establishment as my partner and her family have some wonderful memories of it, however this may just be the least enjoyable dining experience I've had in many years. The unfortunates:- eggs so overcooked I thought it was served on whole grain bread (is was actually just the bottom of the omelette)- steak so vastly overcooked we couldn't cut through it, even when asked for rare. Mostly pieces of cartilage.- took 90+ minutes to recieve our order when only one other table was occupied at time of arrival- water glasses had lipstick and other people's saliva on the rims when we arrived.- out of several menu options.- when commenting on some of the above to the wait staff was told you may as well keep it because it'll take too long to cook another".- flies all over food and in kitchen when looked in through the serving window.- very expensive for everything

Buffet style, hot food in containers that weren't kept hot, so food was cold. Have been here before for a meal and food was not nice. Also partners food brought out alot later when mine was nearly gone. Restaurant has gone downhill.

Staff very friendly 5 star, food wow unbelievable will give that a 5 star, room very clean,no shower just a toilet, can hear through the walls, there is a shared toilet next to our room and you can hear everything lol ,shared shower is down the another end of the hallway, don't think much of the shower, water pressure on low, have to step on a step to get into the shower, so you feel like you are quite high up, of the ground.

We went to Waiuku visiting some friends & as it was lunchtimeish we needed feeding. The suggestion was made to go to The Kentish for drinks & lunch so off we went. The place has old school charm with great dining room & bar that had a sunny airy outlook with tables spaced around. So we studied the menu which has good reasonably priced selections & picked Fish & Chips for Lunch. We ordered some drinks & had a chat while waiting. The food arrived & looked so appetizingit was nicely presented we enjoyed eating it.The service by the wait person was very good & efficient.Definitely a great place to go for Food & Drinks in Waiuku.

Did not have 2 of the wines that were on the wine list. Put us on the deck where it was cold and would not move us. Food was very nice though. This is the 3rd time we have been here and always have some sort of issue. Won't be going again.

Booked and pre paid 15 people a week in advance for all to have the same big breakfast each at 11am. 3 hr trip ahead. Simple right? No other customers at the time. We all turned up on time. Staff at 1st seemed to not know this was happening when we arrived. No one asked orders for coffee etc, no water on tables. No one told us where to sit. By 11.20 a couple meals came out and were stone cold. 2 of us ate it, 2 sent back. Everyone else sat there hungry and just watched us eat. Bread was very stale, like bad croutons. Hash browns swimming in oil. The rest of our friends waited 45 minutes for theirs. Absolutely disappointing. Appallingly bad service and wait time. Will not be recommending this place to anyone. You guys need to seriously look at all the similar reviews and get with it. Amazing venue but a full on let down.
