I have had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Watersons Furniture in Matamata, and I feel compelled to share my disappointing ordeal. After purchasing a lounge suite from them, which involved trading in my old one, I encountered a series of issues that left me frustrated and disheartened. To begin with, Watersons Furniture deducted $550 from the price of the new lounge suite as part of the trade-in agreement. However, the new furniture turned out to be faulty, and despite multiple attempts and promises to rectify the problem, they failed to provide an adequate solution. They even conducted in-home inspections, but each time they left without repairing the lounge suite properly. When I finally requested a refund due to their inability to fix the faulty furniture, Watersons agreed, but shockingly, they refused to refund the $550 that had been deducted from the price as part of the trade-in arrangement. This was clearly unjust and demonstrated their disregard for customer satisfaction.Furthermore, during the process of resolving the matter, I took legal action by filing papers to take Watersons Furniture to the Dispute Tribunal. It was at this stage that they resorted to deceitful tactics. They claimed negligence on the Consumer Guarantees Act and even went so far as to ignore any mention of it in any correspondence. The Consumer Guarantees Act has been in effect since 1993, a fact that any reputable business should be well aware of. Watersons, with over 20 years in the industry, blatantly lied about their knowledge of this crucial legislation. To make matters worse, Watersons presented documentation from the couch manufacturer that contained a bold-faced lie. They claimed that if you didn't sit on the couch exactly in the middle of the cushions, it would break. This assertion is preposterous and an obvious attempt to shirk their responsibility.During the tribunal hearing, Watersons displayed a complete lack of professionalism and integrity. They audaciously stated that they were there to learn about the Consumer Guarantees Act, despite their extensive experience in the business. Their claim was nothing short of a blatant lie to downplay their transgressions.During the hearing, Watersons stooped even lower by bullying my children. One of them was featured in the photos exchanged regarding the faulty couch, and Watersons insinuated that I allowed my children to jump all over the furniture, causing the damage. Such unfounded accusations were not only baseless but also deeply offensive and disrespectful. In a positive turn of events, I would like to highlight that justice was ultimately served. During the tribunal hearing, I was awarded a full refund by the Disputes Tribunal, confirming the legitimacy of my grievances against Watersons Furniture. However, I believe it is important to share the complete picture of my experience, as the manner in which Watersons conducted themselves during this entire process was highly unprofessional. In conclusion, Watersons Furniture in Matamata has demonstrated a complete disregard for customer satisfaction, engaged in deceptive practices, and exhibited a lack of professionalism throughout the entire ordeal. I caution anyone considering doing business with this establishment to proceed with extreme caution.
