A good variety of well-maintained tracks around the mountain, leading to the summit.The fastest one is very steep (20-30 min); the back route to the summit is more smooth and has the best views (30-40 min)

Probably the 5th time I've been up. Usually I would go up and straight back down however we did a little bit of exploring and it was an awesome idea.A lot to love about the view. Shows how epic Tauranga is. It's a super easy walk just take it easy and everyone at every fitness level can get summit no issues.Again a few instagrammers posing which is interesting...

One of our favorite hiking places in the area that we have done many times to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the nice trails.You can hike around the base, which is fairly flat, to enjoy the scenery and take it easy, it take the trail to the overlook at the top for some absolutely stunning and amazing panoramic views of the area with its beaches and ocean views.Definitely a hike that you must check off of your list when you are in the Mount Maunganui or Papamoa area!There is plenty of free parking at the beach area, and lots of stores and restaurants, also.

amazing trek! We even saw the resident seal lounging on the rocks during the afternoon.If you missed a chance to go to the shire in Matamata, this is the next best thing. A walk here, at some points, were like straight out of the Lord of the Rings!

The walk is a fair hike up. You need a reasonable level of fitness, or sheer determination, to get up to the top. But the view is definitely worth it. We did it with two retirees; both made it, but allow about an hour each way.Honestly don’t miss this one, it is worth the exercise value!!!

Mount Maunganui base trail is not steep. The tracks gradually go up and down but it is a difference of about one Meyer elevation. The information says wheelchair friendly but I think it still would be challenging to maneuver the wheelchair up and down especially if the track is wet. You will enjoy the views of the sea and rocks all around the base track. There are benches along the track where you can sit down and admire the view. There is an EDA machine along the path if anyone needs it. You do not have to pay to walk this track.

Mount Maunganui trek, base trail and lookout trail access
We had a great time visiting Mount Maunganui and doing the trek today. I'm very grateful for the well cared for trails and access for everyone to enjoy.Our two year old daughter loved playing at the base of the track among the shells and rocks and we were surprised to see a seal sleeping high up on a rock.I highly recommend the spending time here and doing the walks up and around the mount.
