Jessenka Kennels and Cattery

Would highly recommend that you don't use this cattery (can't speak to the Kennels as the husband and wife run one section each).I had my cat in here for 10 days with the communal area and 'send me pictures' options picked.During my trip away I rang them (as they had said that was fine and encouraged me to do so) and received no answer.Over the span of the trip I called everyday multiple times a day at different times and still no one picked up, not once.When I picked my cat Luna up she hadn't gone out with the other cats (they flat out lied and said she didn't want to go out - this is the most social and friendly cat and she gets terribly lonely without other cats), she had put on over 1kg and I had no debrief/the owner wasn't even there when I picked her up so there was no one to talk to about how her stay was.A kilo in a week and a half is ridiculous and I'm very angry that I now have to spend a few months modifying her diet to bring it back down.I speculate that they just left her in a cage with an endless supply of food and no exercise.Very disappointed as Jessenka has been a Blenheim staple for decades now.

Very nice lady on the phone when booking my dogs in. She seemed to want to know about my dogs which gave me confidence they will have a good experience when they are there

Our dogs are well taken care of during their stay.

They do a wonderful job. I have been dropping my pets there for the last 3 years. Have had no problems and my pets always come away happy.

Steven is lovely. He always answered my calls outside business hours. Was very accommodating of our needs and understanding. The rates are very reasonable $15 a day for our puppy to stay! Such great value. Steven was so kind and friendly. We had our dog stay when we went on a wine tour and when we drove past saw Steven playing with our dog. Highly recommend to anyone. Will be coming back

We travel a lot and often on short notice, so need an accommodating and reliable kennel for our dog. Juno loves going to Jessenka. Steven and Wendy know the dogs well, host them in an organised, clean and warm environment, and are happy to support with medications or special diets. Our previous dog who was blind and had a multitude of health issues also stayed at Jessenka and was very well cared for.

A real shame as this is well located and seems to be a good facility - I went to collect my dogs as arranged on Thursday morning only to be greeted with a rather abrupt 'You're early'. This wasn't true as we'd arranged to collect our dogs during the Thursday morning opening period. The situation didn't get any better when I offered to help only to be given a gruff 'No' response as the gentleman walked away. I suspect he hadn't managed to get our dogs ready in time as they were still outside, according to him, when I arrived and as such he was somewhat on the back foot.When I pointed out that I didn't really appreciate being greeted in this manner he became very defensive, told me I was being rude (Which I wasn't) and I was left to sort the dogs out myself. When my credit card wasn't accepted I pointed out that it would have been good to have known this only to be told 'Well it says so on our website' at which point he simply walked away to go and help another person who had subsequently arrived.Rest assured we won't be using this facility again as basic courtesy and customer service seem to have been skipped during my dealings with them. We used them as the kennel we normally use was full this week. This is very much lesson learned for me and I'd suggest you look elsewhere - Perhaps I caught the chap on a bad day. Who knows but that's no excuse for blatant rudeness and a disregard for any kind of customer service.Avoid.

Our cat went missing escaped from the car took 2 days for me to find her next door I don't think the owners were very supportive. As they are experienced in pets cages an needs to advice people on the correct ones to have would be a great help.
