was really struggling and had no one else to turn to so i gave this a shot and they sent an automated message basically saying they were too busy and would respond as soon as they could. i was waiting over 40 minutes and they still have not said anything

Absolutely useless, asked if I had support when I told the lady I didn't already, & said good I dng self care when I arent, & will let u go & rest when I was so sad & upset she never told me anything to do, had about 5 beers since the texting & now can hardly stand up, any wonder why we abuse alcohol if we have no support & NZ USELESS for mental health too

Had two good experiences two days in a row. One of the counsellors was willing to redirect me to therapy options as they could see I was distressed. Whoever I spoke to named Liam from 31/8/2021 deserves a raise. I was made to come to my own conclusions for my happiness and encouraged that it isn't a bad thing to feel negative emotions. Will probably use this service again in the future.

most of the experiences ive had with this helpline have been difficult. the people who talk to me aren't very helpful and they dont seem interested in what im saying. if youre suicidal, call lifeline instead. if youre not suicidal, give this one a go but it might make you feel worse to be honest.

it was pre cool, though at first the person sounded so jus uninterested and like just not nice vibes but then i think after they heard me crying a lil they were very kind. I think it was helpful, i guess it was someone that made it(the possibility that i need help mentally lol) real for me. They were very patient and understanding I'd say, i get moody quickly so one moment id be cry the other moment id be like this is a waste of time. In the end, they were pretty helpful, told me to go talk to a counsellor so eh, I would recommend though.

A few times I tried to contact this number when I was really suicidal. Automatic message of how busy it was, cool that’s fine… but having to have a response a day and a half later but then closing the conversation because you didn’t hear from me (it was 9am and I was still asleep). I ended up staying up until 4am until I fell asleep due to my insomnia meds. Also a cup of tea doesn’t solve issues

My experience with 1737 is so bad, I would rate a 0 if I could. This place has counselling services that are so terrible that I feel like I am worse majority of the time after getting off the phone with these guys. They follow the same script every time about how I should take my mind off it. There is nothing that is helpful with this service at all.
