Staff here are very good. Although extremely busy they were mindful of assisting everyone. There's plenty of information on things to do in the whole region & pamphlets were displayed in a well organised manner. Nice, welcoming & friendly.

Taupo Visitor Information Centre
I was stuck in Taupo on Tuesday when my bus back to Auckland was cancelled. There were about 20 passengers waiting at the bus stop. The people at the Visitor Information Centre were just so helpful, they spent a lot of time trying to contact Intercity and came up the road several times to pass any information on. Such an amazing team.

Taupo Visitor Information Centre
Very impressive service and advice today. The receptionist was under considerable pressure from travellers due to bus cancellations. Nevertheless she kept her cool and even managed to answer our quick question by directing us to their customer computer screen without annoying the bus victims! She got them away by taxi/minibus and in the ensuing calm gave us further good advice on bike trails as well as walking ones. Invaluable due to continuing post-cyclone closures. Their free maps are excellent too.

Taupo Visitor Information Centre
Stayed in Taupo for nearly a week while waiting for the crossing and ended up going in here nearly everyday when I wanted something to do. Everyone there was so helpful and kind, and were great to talk to and get opinions from when deciding what to do for the day.If you're stuck for something to do, give this place a visit(Also, there are no toilets in the building, but there are free ones about 100m up the road, away from the lake)

Very helpful staffs. No washrooms in this information centre. However there is a Pay Per Use public washroom about 100 yards away. Be ready with NZ$0.50 or have a McCafe in McDonalds few streets away. Enjoy your stay.
