Hands down the best meal I have eaten. I had the chefs choice menu that sampled 7 courses. I couldn’t quite make it to the last but our lovely waitress made sure we took home our last course. Wonderful service and brilliant food. Perfect.

All was perfect, as usual ... The food was delicious and the team was present with a big smile and usual care. Atmosphere was very good as well. Many thanks and see you next time!

The meat was exceptional, had the spare rib. Best I’ve ever had. Went back the next night and it was just as good as I remembered.

Restaurant upstairs was fully booked so we had to eat in the bar, which was okay. Entrees were good. Nice simple take on prawn salad. Ordered the $49 fillet steak and was not asked how i wanted it cooked. Came out well over. Should have sent it back. The 6 mile salad was also disappointing. Probably straight from the packet. Service was shoddy. Had to go bar to get a drink and tell them we wanted deserts. On the bright side my wifes short ribs were good, the mac n cheese was great and her sour creme panacotta was also good. Certainly a mixed bag here

Service was really great! Especially Valentine who took care of our table. I liked the starters, pulled beef fries than the main course. We ate Schnitzel which was alright for main course. Fine dine restaurant was fully pre-booked, so we have to manage it in the bar downstairs.

Good quality food and helpful staff. Being a vegetarian I was a bit worried but limited choice but good flavours. Risotto was very tasty initially with his flavour and textures but became very bland after a while as it was the same thing for each mouthful. Personal moan risotto should be a side dish not a main course. I usually never have dessert but was tempted by the bread and butter pudding. Very glad I did. It was delicious.

Epicurean experience! Don't take your kids unless they have a well refined palate, instead visit Fredericks which has a more relaxed menu and shares the same kitchen. Fine dining at its best.

Meat & Liquor Steakhouse - New Plymouth
Our visit to Meat and Liquor Steakhouse, New Plymouth started with the glass of a very special Triennes rose wine. It was like this invisible border between summer and autumn in a glass. Do you know that they harvest the grapes for this organic wine at night so the delicate product arrives to the winery without being heated. And the pressing starts in few hours for the same reason. And the whole process of fermentation also goes in a low temperature. So it is a very cool wine by all means. It was accompanied with duck breast with butternut purée, pork jowl with calvados mushrooms pâté, blue cod with fennel, celeriac and caviar. There were also sides of carrots cooked several ways and black garlic mushrooms. The menu was exquisite and well balanced. It felt like visiting one of the old restaurants somewhere in Europe, situated in a castle with a dungeon turned into a wine cellar.#finedining #restaurant #foodreview
