The Open Book

Lovely little secondhand bookstore with very friendly staff. The coffee sign out the front of a little misleading, came in expecting barista coffee but was greeted with just coffee making facilities. Still a great shop. Would visit again.

This is a great second hand bookstore with a good selection of both local Kiwi and international titles. There are also books in other languages. There is a nice garden to read in as well as free tea coffee and water. Being an overseas visitor I appreciated having free wifi so that I was able to contact my brother and find out which of the Kiwi cricket titles he wanted. It was a good place to spend Sunday morning.

Was recommended this place recently and finally got to see it in the flesh yesterday. Took my son with me and a young lady greeted us as soon as we walked in and saw I had a child so she instantly told us where the kids section was and my son was on his way. They had some great stuff in there, every room was instagram worthy so I had to get a shot of one of their rooms. I left with a bag which is what I like to think of as a good shop well done! Definitely somewhere to browse in your spare time or to find one of a kind books. I think it was also great that they had a bathroom in store as my son was busting by the time we left so a big plus for me.

Friendly and efficient decision on books we were donating. Was a little surprised at what they turned down but I guess that's business.Well presented place just beware that parking in the area can be a miserable experience.

Best book shop ever. So welcoming, you feel like you are visiting a friend in their home. Complimentary tea, which is basically the way to steal my heart. An amazing collection of second hand books, there were so many that I would have bought, and at such reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly too, which is the absolute cherry on the top!

Cute little second hand book store in the middle of ponsonby road. It was busy inside for the quarterly clearance sale 5 books for $15. I imagine it would be lovely and quiet to browse on a normal day.

Without a doubt this is Ponsonby's most hidden gem. The Open Book may look unassuming from the outside but as soon as you enter, you're treated to a tranquil haven, especially if you're a book lover.There's 7 rooms lined with books of every genre, chairs to get comfy in, and free coffee to keep your mind sharp. My personal favorite however is the sunny backyard garden with beanbags; nothing quite like reading a good book in the sun's warmth.Thanks for a great time!

A lovely second hand bookshop with such friendly, helpful staff. They've also just started a monthly market and serve coffee. They're active on Instagram so you can buy books that way also. I highly recommend!

Beautiful used book store. Great selection, nice space to get lost in a book (and buy it after!) and friendly staff. Doesn't feel like an episode of Hoarders.
