Rita was my stylist and she was absolutely lovely! She listened to what I wanted and was really considerate of my hair type and making sure it would work out the way I was looking for. Highly recommend and will definitely come back :)

First experience of this colouring salon.needed advice re greying hair and how to manage it. Used a grab one voucher but because of the length of my hair needed more product to cover length.Came to good compromise over extra money needed. Pleased with advice and result.Thanks.

Rita always does an excellent job on my bleach and tone. It’s a bit pricey but worth it for a great job. They’ve just been bought out by Vivo so I’ll have to see if anything changes.

If you know, what you exactly want - don't go there. I love my style and I know what is the best. I showed my old picture hairs with color in salon.. I always used grey white blond ombre. The stylist did her imagination. I went there for recommendations from my colleague. I'm from Europe and it isn't easy find to new place with understanding me. I'm not happy. My hair is nice but it isn't me now.

I think this is the first time I've ever reviewed something because I've never felt the need to until now... I am SO happy with my experience here. I had Tessa do an amazing job on my hair, despite my poor explanations of what I wanted she got it exactly how I'd imagined, and worked really hard to make sure it was perfect. I seriously couldn't be happier and every person I came in contact with was really lovely too! I'm so happy I've finally found somewhere that I'm confident I'll be returning to. Thank you guys!!

Gabby did an awesome job as usual. The only negative about my experience was the other customer at the time....an extremely rude woman who demanded that Gabby blow dry her hair (even though she hadn't paid for a blow dry). This woman threatened to leave a bad review if she didn't get a blow dry. Consequently she got her blow dry (under duress)....and she still left a bad review. (You'll see it below, unless it's been removed for its racist remarks). Do not take any notice of this woman's review......it is completely unjustified. I was there and heard how rude and threatening she was to the staff. The team at Hue Balmoral are caring, competent professionals who do a great job. For some reason, in her review, this woman felt the need to mention the race of other customers at Hue - and then suggest that staff are selective about which clients they treat professionally and which ones they don't". This is an incredibly racist remark and speaks to the kind of person this woman is. Hairdressers are among many in the service industry who have had an incredibly tough time due to covid lockdowns. Hue Balmoral is a great neighbourhood salon with wonderful staff who take pride in their work. They deserve to be supported. And yes.....I always pay $103 for a permanent root retouch and then I blow dry my own hair."

They let me dry my own hair even though it’s part of the service, and still overcharged me. The end result was nothing like the photos I showed them. I was told that my Asian hair could never be bleached blond, and balayage is not possible either. Worst salon experience of my life. Do not recommend for any women of colour. Hands down the most racist and unprofessional salon I have been to.

I had Bridget coloured my hair today. Overall experience was pleasant. Trainee was not amazing at washing hair but she is a trainee and she is very polite and nice. I am happy with Bridget's suggestion and very happy with the results. Good value for money. I'd recommend this place and I'd go again. Thank you.

Yesterday, I had an appointment for my roots to be retouched. This was my 4th visit to Hue Hair Salon Balmoral. Each time, a blow dry has been included in the cost of $97.85.I was completely at a loss for words when the girl washing my hair pointed to the counter with a blow drier and several bottles of products, and invited me to dry my own hair. Nobody had mentioned anything about blow drying my own hair before I arrived or while I was waiting to get my hair done.Gabi, who has colored and blow-dried my hair up till now, proceeded to make all kinds of excuses for not blow drying my hair on this occasion. Apparently, she didn't have time yesterday. But on the other occasions she DID have time. I was still expected to pay her for the cost of the colour and blow-dry. The only other customer in the salon was a Pakeha woman who had the gall to poke her nose into a private discussion between Gabi and me. Gabi looked decidedly uncomfortable when I demanded the service I was led to believe that I was paying for. I asked Gabi if her Pakeha client was expected to blowdry her own hair, as well.At my previous appointment with Gabi, she had tried to overcharge me by $35.00 until I told her what I was charged for the same service the previous times. Therefore, I made a point yesterday morning of checking the price as $97.85 before we started. At no time, when I made my phone appointment nor when I arrived at the salon, did Gabi mention anything about my having to apply products to or blow-dry my own hair.I refused to do either and asked her what she intended to do about my wet hair. I emphasized that if I knew I was expected to blow dry my own hair, I would've done it at home for nothing. The mention of a review to follow saw her absent for a bit and when she returned, she completed the blow-dry.I had seen an Asian and an Indian woman blow drying their own hair on two different occasions and wondered why it was necessary. Now, I know. There's no way I would ever go back to Hue Hair Salon Balmoral whose staff are selective about which clients they treat professionally and which ones they don't. To put a client through this appallingly tacky behavior is absolutely unacceptable.
