Duck Island Ice Cream
Great selection of flavours and nicely designed shop. Nothing beats a tasty ice cream on a sunny day.I visited whilst waiting for my mum having her haircut. When I picked her up, I was finishing off the last bite of the cone. I told her how yummy it was and it prompted her to ask for one.We returned to the shop and I ordered another one…

It was a very good experience at Duck Island Ice Cream Auckland after we were trying to find a place which could match Patagonia of Queenstown. We were not disappointed and 6 of us family members enjoyed our different flavors here.

Yummy Flavors of Ice Cream, but the lady at the checkout looked like she didn't really want to be there, when we went there last night. Every other worker serving us the ice cream had more happier faces than she did.

Nice Ice cream and I like the vanilla flavor. The portion is also quite good. They do allow you taste a few to decide which one you like better which is a plus too.Supporting local if that’s your thing. The store can be crowded if you visit after lunch time.

Tried out the Feijoa and Hummus flavours. The Feijoa one was so good, you could even taste the grainy pieces of the fruit. The Hummus one was a bit too adventurous for me, especially with the cumin seeds inside.

Read a lot of reviews about the gelato cafe and on my first visit to Auckland, I came here to try out 2 of their most popular flavours.Blueberry buttermilk gooey butter cakeSalted caramel cacao crumbThe sweetness level was on a high side.It hits you first before you work through the flavour profile and texture.I like the surprising textures of the crumbs and bits and pieces. The salted caramel didn’t have an even taste blended throughout. At some point there was a burst of salty flavour - quite sharp, like biting into salt crystals. The cafe is nicely designed and spacious.

Highly recommend the pecan butterscotch flavour. Pure smokey, nutty deliciousness. They don't seem to have a lot of lighter/sorbets.

First visit today, lot of seating and great ice creams. A single scoop is equivalent to two scoops so can choose two flavors in a scoop. It was quite heavy for me as I didn’t choose multiple flavors. My wife had ambrosia(was gluten free- light and amazing). My daughters fairy bread along with the fudge was great too.

Duck Island Ice Cream
My rating is no reflection on the ice cream! The ice cream is absolutely delicious, and I especially love how many vegan flavours are available! My rating is due to the staff members at the NewMarket branch- I’m not usually one to write a review, but I feel compelled as I do actually enjoy this brand! Every time I’ve gone in (5-6 times this year), the staff look like they absolutely do not want to be there, hanging on by a thread! They are not particularly rude, but it’s very obvious that they would rather be anywhere else- they do not really greet you or have any form of conversation while giving you a blank stare. There is also often no music playing in the store. This makes you not want to stay in the store for very long, as it almost feels as though you’re a bother. It really brings the atmosphere of the shop down, which is unfortunate as the shop is actually really nice with fun decor, and absolutely delectable ice cream!
